Current West Ham Manager

In the last 20 years, West Ham United has chopped and changed managers looking for the perfect fit. Current manager David Moyes who arrived at the London Stadium in December 2019, has been under pressure but has battled his way through and, in 2023, reached the final of the Europa Conference League; the Hammers now have their first chance at silverware since winning the Intertoto Cup in 1999.

Manager Appointment Date To Days in Charge
David Moyes 30/12/2019 30/09/2023 1370

David Moyes had managed the East London side previously for 6 months in the 2017/18 season after Slaven Bilic was sacked, however, he was not offered the job permanently when the season finished.

The Scottish manager returned for a second spell in December 2019 on an 18-month contract; he took over from Manuel Pelligrini, whose time in charge at the club was very disappointing.

West Ham finished in 16th place, but the following two seasons under Moyes resulted in a 6th and 7th place finish, far more acceptable to fans. In June 2021, he signed a new contract that should keep him at the club until 2024. Certainly, the revenue generated from the bigger stadium has helped the club with buying new players.  With this optimism, though, comes pressure, and as we know, football management comes with the risk of being sacked; David Moyes will be fully aware of this.

Frank Lampard

How would West Ham supporters react to Frank Lampard returning to his first club? When he left for Chelsea in 2001 some felt he had let down the club that he had been with since 16. It would be a bold move by the board, especially seeing his managerial career has been very hit-and-miss.

Brendan Rodgers

Having left Leicester City by mutual consent at the beginning of April 2023 Brendan Rodgers is now available for any club that wants the Northern Irishman. His record in football management is a mixed bag with his greatest success spent in Scotland at Celtic where the Hoops won two SPL titles and the same number of Scottish Cups. His most recent trophy was at the Foxes where in 2021 the midlands side won the FA Cup beating Chelsea 1-0.

Paulo Fonseca

Fonseca managed a host of clubs in Portugal before moving to Shakhtar Donetsk in the Ukraine. During his three-year spell here, where he won the double three years on the trot and their subsequent appearance in the Champions League, he started to be noticed by Chairman around Europe. The bookmakers also started featuring Fonseca in many next-manager markets (Tottenham. Brighton etc.). He is currently at Lille in France, where they finished in 4th place in his first season behind PSG, Lens and Marseille.
