President Macron
French Parliament
The Parliamentary election that took place in June 2022 differs from the Presidential election.
Here you need 289 seats for a majority with the President's party (LREM) and his coalition partners falling short by 44, In total, they lost 102 seats.
The big winners were from the left (NUPES) and right-wing groupings (National Rally, Union of Right and Centre) of french politics.
Parties | % | Seats |
---|---|---|
Ensemble Alliance | 38.57% | 244 |
NESPU | 31.60% | 127 |
National Rally | 17.30% | 89 |
Union of the Right and Centre | 7.29% | 64 |
This will make legislation incredibly difficult for the LREM alliance and gridlock could ensue.
We may be seeing another French General election sooner than was being considered by anyone.
