A regular fixture on Saturday night viewing Britain's Got Talent has now been running since 2007. The BGT series has been incredibly popular with nearly 10 million viewers regularly tuning in. Talent auditions are held around the country and then whittled down to a shortlist of contestants who then appear in the televised shows. The Britains Got Talent winner receives a cash prize and is scheduled to appear at the next Royal Variety Performance, in front of the Royal Family.

BGT will likely start in April 2023 if previous years dates are anything to go by. The series should then run until June 2023.

With comparisons to famous Britain's Got Talent winner Susan Boyle already, Tom Ball has shot to the top of the betting market to win this year's series of the show. Ball, a 23-year-old teacher from West Sussex, received four yeses from the judges to put him through and he wowed the audience at home to after his audition. Singing Sam Smith's James Bond theme 'Writing's On The Wall', Ball impressed Simon Cowell, especially who praised his voice.

To become the winner of BGT you need an act that either pulls on the heartstrings OR something that is so unusual and clever.

The biggest successes of BGT have probably been the first winner opera singer Paul Potts who went on to perform around the world, and whose debut album went platinum in many countries.

The other act that has achieved longevity are Diversity.
The gymnastic troupe were a shock winner of the 2009 BGT series when beating the bookmaker's favourite Susan Boyle.

They have performed at the 2012 London Olympics opening ceremony and have continued entertaining packed audiences since their BGT debut.
