With comparisons to famous Britain's Got Talent winner Susan Boyle already, Tom Ball has shot to the top of the betting market to win this year's series of the show. Ball, a 23-year-old teacher from West Sussex, received four yeses from the judges to put him through and he wowed the audience at home to after his audition. Singing Sam Smith's James Bond theme 'Writing's On The Wall', Ball impressed Simon Cowell, especially who praised his voice.

To become the winner of BGT you need an act that either pulls on the heartstrings OR something that is so unusual and clever.

The biggest successes of BGT have probably been the first winner opera singer Paul Potts who went on to perform around the world, and whose debut album went platinum in many countries.

The other act that has achieved longevity are Diversity.
The gymnastic troupe were a shock winner of the 2009 BGT series when beating the bookmaker's favourite Susan Boyle.
