Scheduled to take place in May of each year at the Morphettville racecourse is the Robert Sangster Stakes, this Group 1 race was inaugurated in 1983 and originally known as the Swettenham Stud Stakes and has undergone several name changes due to sponsorship changes but is registered as the Robert Sangster Stakes.

The race named in honour of Robert Sangster, an owner and breeder who sadly passed away in 2004, is restricted to only fillies and mares and is contested over a distance of 1,200m with the race taking place during the Autumn Carnival.
