Premier League Betting Odds | History and Trends

Value betting should be the aim for all of us. Where we notice stand out odds on an event we should take advantage. Each week the EPL can throw up teams who have a better chance of winning or drawing a game than their odds indicate.

22 were away victories, 11 were draws, 6 were home wins.

28 of the 39 matches involved one of the big six teams of Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, Man City, Man Utd, Tottenham.

Maybe the take out of this is to look at the big six teams on each round of matches and see if you can find value bets and value odds.

We shall update the table as the season progresses.

West Bromwich Albion
Despite the trials and tribulation for the Baggies their draw at Man City and win at Chelsea gave punters the biggest winning odds of the season.

EPL Big Six Results

We looked at the games of the Big Six of Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, Man City, Man Utd, and Tottenham.

We ignored games where they played each other, we just looked at their results this season against the other 14 clubs.

There were only 5 weeks so far where all won.

There was only 1 week (Week 12) when there were no wins for any of the big six.

  • Arsenal 0 v Burnley 1
  • Fulham 1 v Liverpool 1
  • Crystal Palace 1 v Tottenham 1
  • Everton 1 v Chelsea 0

There would have been betting value on their opposition, as these six teams are predominately favourites in every game they play.

All bettors should be looking for value from their bets - taking on the big six in many games this season would have paid dividends.

EPL Value Betting

Over the years OLBG has always highlighted the need to not be scared of big odds and to always consider betting value.

Many of the betting guides written by members feature value betting + we rank bookmakers by the betting odds they offer.

Value betting

What this means is you need to look at an event and consider each outcome, and the odds available for each outcome from different bookmakers.

There is a real wide variation between the best and worst odds on offer.

You get to know which bookies offer value on which sports and teams

If we take a football match for example you may see the best odds offered

  • Arsenal 1.9
  • Draw 3.35
  • Manchester United 3.95

Those betting odds equate to a percentage

  • Arsenal 52.63%
  • Draw 29.85%
  • Manchester United 25.32%

However, another bookmaker may offer poorer odds such as:

  • Arsenal 1.75
  • Draw 3.35
  • Manchester United 3.9

  • Arsenal 57.14%
  • Draw 29.85%
  • Manchester United 25.64%

You now have to consider based on your opinion and knowledge of the teams and using the best odds possible whether Arsenal has a better than 52% chance of winning the game.

If you think they do you should place your bet.

Value betting

The same with the draw and Man Utd win.

All your bets should be considered this way.

The table on this page highlights some real value bets from each round of the EPL.
