Bowyer left the club in March 2021. He moved to Birmingham City, but the results could have been better, and with the club seemingly going nowhere and with no definable style, he was sacked in July 2022.  In a real left field move Bowyer was appointed to manage the Montserrat National team in September 2023.  The Caribbean side plays in the CONCACAF federation. Ian Burchnall

Burchnall has been building his coaching reputation, most notably at Notts County, This alerted Forest Green Rovers, who were looking for a new boss after the uber-successful Rob Green moved to Watford.
