20+ years in the gambling industry including 13+ years playing and reviewing slots.

Shady Lady is a new slot provider which was founded in 2024. With their first release (Devil’s Finger) being released in March 2025, I spoke to Voice of the Shadows Marla Singer to discuss Shady Lady’s journey and ethos, how slot games are created and how they differ from other providers.

The interview also looks at the upcoming Devil’s Finger slot, what Highlight Reels and Loot Boxes are and what to expect in 2025 and beyond. Finally, I thought I would mention that Devil’s Finger is not available to play for real money at UK slot sites yet.

Q: Can you tell us a little about Shady Lady and the journey since it was founded?

MS: “Shady Lady was founded with one clear goal: to shake things up. The industry is full of studios that play it safe, recycling the same mechanics with a fresh coat of paint. That’s not us. We’re here to build games that matter: slots that grab players' attention, keep them engaged, and offer mechanics that actually impact gameplay.

So far, it’s been an intense but incredibly fun journey. Devil’s Finger was our opening statement, and we aim high, constantly striving to improve while staying open to changes in the market and player behaviour. We believe we have what it takes to adapt and thrive as we move forward.”

Q: What other slot providers have inspired Shady Lady?

MS: “We respect the studios that push boundaries and take risks. There are a handful out there doing things right, and we see them. But inspiration for us isn’t about copying what others have done:  it’s about finding what hasn’t been done and making it work in a way that feels fresh and exciting.

Some of the best ideas don’t even come from the slot world but from gaming, pop culture, and the way players engage with entertainment in general.”

Q: Has mobile influenced your design in any way?

MS: “We know that most players spin on mobile, so we design accordingly. But that doesn’t mean the experience should feel different depending on the device. Our games are built to scale seamlessly across all screens, maintaining the same level of immersion, responsiveness, and flow whether you're playing on a phone, tablet, or desktop.

The ambition is always to deliver the same experience, no matter how or where you play. Fast-loading, responsive, and designed for touch: that’s how we build from day one.”

Q: How are new slot games created? What’s the process?

MS: “We don’t just slap a theme onto an innovative mechanic or bolt a new feature onto a fun setting: we build our games so that everything works together as one. The mechanics and the theme should reinforce each other, creating a complete experience that feels natural and exciting to play.

This will become more evident as we release more games, showcasing our commitment to a cohesive design philosophy.”

Q: How do Shady Lady slots differ from other provider games?

MS: “As mentioned, we don’t just match a random theme with a random mechanic and call it a day. We aim for a fully integrated experience where gameplay, features, and visuals all work in harmony.

But beyond that, our games feel different: they hit harder, they surprise you, and they actually do something new. We take risks, we push mechanics further, and we always prioritise entertainment over just ticking industry boxes.”

Q: Can you tell us a little about your first slot game, Devil’s Finger?

MS: “Devil’s Finger is a chaotic mix of dark humour, magic, and madness. It follows Cosmo, a die-hard cosplay nerd who gets sucked into a parallel dimension and has to fight his way out with magic.

Beyond the story, it’s packed with fresh mechanics: like the Finger feature, which blocks symbols but also builds massive column multipliers. There’s a constant push and pull, where something that seems bad can suddenly become game-changing.

Add to that our Highlight Reels and Loot Boxes, and you’ve got a game that offers something truly different. It's a mix of humour, dark fantasy, and strategic gameplay, all wrapped in a high-volatility slot that can hit hard when things align. This isn’t just another slot: it’s an experience, and that’s exactly what we wanted to create.”

Q: Shady Lady has introduced Highlight Reels and Loot Boxes: can you explain what they entail?

MS: “These are features we developed because we know they add value for players. Highlight Reels lets you skip straight to the action: buying the three best spins from a batch, played in order from lowest to highest for maximum suspense.

Loot Boxes add an extra layer of thrill, offering random prizes across different tiers. If you hit a Loot Box with three gold stars, you’re in for one hell of a ride.

But beyond just gameplay, we also had another audience in mind: streamers. These features are designed to create big, entertaining moments, making them perfect for streaming and content creation.

When we bring together the theme, the mechanics, and these added features like Loot Boxes and Highlight Reels, that’s when the magic happens, for both players and viewers.”

Q: What else can we expect from Shady Lady in 2025? Can you give us an insight into upcoming releases?

MS: “We’ll keep releasing new games, but we won’t be pumping them out just for the sake of it. Less is more. Every game we launch will follow the same philosophy: tight mechanics, strong themes, and an experience that actually matters.

Expect a steady flow of releases throughout 2025, each one raising the bar. We’re only getting started.”
