June Trainers
We move into the summer and one of the most exciting months of the year for flat fans with the Derby, Oaks at Epsom and the 5-day Royal Ascot meeting.
At the time of writing, we have had a losing May, but we still sit at an overall profit for the year which is really good considering we were running at around (£130) LSL this time last year. June was the month when everything changed, 7/8 winning trainers and a massive 170 LSP.
All 8 are back, and we have a couple of additions that should make it a really interesting month.

-
2022 17/69 25% +£12.05
Stats that are improving year on year and surprising good early price gains, will give plenty of interest at Epsom and Ascot.
JOHN & THADY GOSDEN (ALL)
Another back from last year where he managed a +£45 LSP

Massive early price gains, were largely due to a horse called Morning Poem that we bet at 41/1 on the exchanges and it returned at just 10’s
HARRY & ROGER CHARLTON (2&3YO’S)
Again back from last year, just +£11 LSP but still a nice return. Another who now shares the licence with his son.

2022 5/28 18% +£10.25
Really solid stuff going back 8 years, we made a profit in 2019 (due to a 25’s winner) and 2021. Ignore his older horses, their record is relatively poor.
CHARLIE JOHNSTON (2YO’S)
Charlie holds the licence on his own now after a brief flirtation with sharing it with his dad, I’m sure his dad still has plenty of influence so I’m confident we can rely on these figures which go back 9 years.

2014 12/35 34% +£35.29

2015 16/65 25% (£ 9.29)

2021 6/33 18% (£ 6.40)
-
2022 11/35 31% +£18.40
I’m happy to excuse anyone’s figures in 2020 with Covid causing havoc in some schedules and in 2021 he had loads of big-priced 2nd’s which were highlighted in last year's blog. Our faith was rewarded with +£40 LSP from our early price figures and I expect more of the same this year.
CHARLIE FELLOWS (ALL)
The first trainer who wasn’t here last year, he has figures to match them though.

-
2021 5/27 19% +£18.63
-
2020 4/29 14% (£ 6.40)
Cracking stuff until last year and that wasn’t horrendous, there was a tiny case for not including his 2yo’s but such a small sample convinced me to leave them in.

Nice to have a bit of interest over the water and this guy provides plenty.
-
2018 10/40 25% +£13.29

2021 8/36 22% +£ 9.70
-
2022 5/57 9% +£ 8.00
Even when his strike rate has dropped his LSP has been reasonable so there shouldn't be much risk, he’s definitely a trainer to get on early as his horses can be gambled.

2021 12/51 24% +£ 1.64
-
2022 6/38 16% (£ 1.00)
Comes into the month on the back of a good May, no reason why his form should change.
WILLIE MULLINS (ALL)
No surprise to see Mullins in the blog again, some solid figures considering all his big guns will have been put away for the winter.

-
2022 9/22 41% (£ 0.95)
Unbelievable strike rate and you get a little more wiggle room than you might think in terms of early price gains, especially when he goes mob-handed into races. Comes into the month with 6 winners from his last 11 runners.

Our own figures were +£3.50 LSP so no reason to discard him, hopefully some of his missing May winners turn up in June.

He had some massive-priced placed horses in May, if he can get one of those over the line it would be great.
PETER BOWEN (ALL)
Last up this month an old favourite, Peter Bowen got me into this back in the day with his Summer jumpers and he can be relied upon even now when the sun shines.

Get on early with this guy, we made +£67.50 LSP in 2019 (6 times the SP!).
Busy month ahead, hopefully, we can get back on track, as always any comments or questions leave them below. Good Luck!
