2024 US Open Golf Venue
The US Open tournament tends to be staged on golf courses renowned for posing even the best golfers the sternest of tests so let's take a look at where the 124th US Open will take place in 2024.
Where is the 2024 US Open Golf Tournament ?
Along with the USPGA Championship and The Open Championship, the US Open is held annually at different venues and the 2024 event returns to the Pinehurst Resort in North Carolina for the fourth time. Pinehurst Resort
The Number 2 course at Pinehurst is a links style course with sand and native scrubland bordering the fairways, the greens are notably tricky with a short approach shot likely to make life difficult to secure a par. A hot putter will also be required!

US Open - Key Scoring Statistics
Greens In Regulation
We touched on this area in our US Masters Betting Guide and although we are talking about different courses for the US Open as opposed to solely Augusta for the Masters, what is evident when looking at some of the past US Open winners (between 2015 & 2019) scoring stats is they were all ranked in the top 5 for 'Greens in Regulation' (GIR) when winning their US Open.
Other key scoring areas like putting, birdies, eagles, driving distance etc saw some winners rank well however the persistent statistic for winners ranking highly was 'Greens In Regulation'.
Here is a table showing the US Open winners between 2015 and 2019 plus their GIR ranking:
Year | Winner | GIR Ranking |
---|---|---|
2019 | Gary Woodland | 2nd |
2018 | Brooks Koepka | 4th |
2017 | Brooks Koepka | 1st |
2016 | Dustin Johnson | 1st |
2015 | Jordan Spieth | T5 |
- 2018 saw the 1st (Brooks Koepka), 2nd (Tommy Fleetwood) & 3rd (Dustin Johnson) finish in the top 4 for Greens In Regulation.
- In 2019 the 1st (Gary Woodland) and 2nd (Brooks Koepka) finished 2nd and 1st for GIR.
