This Martin Pipe Conditional Jockeys Handicap Hurdle was introduced to the Festival menu in 2009, run over two and a half miles and as the title suggests is only open to Conditional Jockeys.

Since 2019 this race has had a new slot in the schedule and now concludes the four days of the Cheltenham Festival.

The race is run on the new course in which the contestants will have to jump nine hurdles and is named in honour of Martin Pipe, the multiple champion national hunt trainer who notched up thirty-four festival winners before handing over the training licence to his son David.
