Ireland’s win in Italy means that not only is it a third-successive Six Nations title but they have done so in style by securing the 2025 Grand Slam.
While the final table is as follows:
Rank | Nation | PLD | W | D | L | BP | PTS | Notes |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
1 | Ireland | 5 | 5 | 0 | 0 | 4 | 27 | Grand Slam (+3 pts), consistent bonus points from try-scoring dominance. |
2 | France | 5 | 4 | 0 | 1 | 3 | 19 | Only loss to Ireland, bonus points for tries in wins. |
3 | England | 5 | 3 | 0 | 2 | 2 | 14 | Wins over Wales, Scotland, and Italy, plus some bonus points. |
4 | Scotland | 5 | 2 | 0 | 3 | 3 | 11 | Wins over Wales and Italy, bonus points in narrow losses. |
5 | Wales | 5 | 1 | 0 | 4 | 2 | 6 | A win over Italy and some losing bonus points. |
6 | Italy | 5 | 0 | 0 | 5 | 2 | 2 | Competitive in a few games, earning losing bonus points. |
Ireland: A Team on a Mission
Ireland’s dominance in 2025 is built on consistency and squad depth as key figures such as Caelan Dorris and Dan Sheehan stand out from the pack. Our AI model highlighted their superior try-scoring rate and tactical intelligence, predicting the Grand Slam with bonus points in every match.
The Battle for Second: France and England
France, bolstered by the leadership of Antoine Dupont and Romain Ntamack finished second and they can pinpoint the 33-20 defeat to Ireland in Round 4 as the pivotal moment when the title slipped through their hands.
While England under the guidance of coach Steve Borthwick had to make do with third. A lack of quality against the pair of Ireland and France ahead but enough on show to mop up three wins out of five overall.
Competitive Edge from Scotland
Scotland’s attacking prowess, led by Finn Russell made them a dangerous opponent but not dangerous enough to turn that into wins. A lack of victories can be offset against the collection of crucial bonus points before finishing fourth.
Rebuilding for Wales and Italy
Wales finds itself in a transitional phase – especially as they sacked coach Warren Gatland during the tournament itself and that transition has been mirrored by the efforts of our predictive ‘Supercomputer’
While collecting this year’s Wooden Spoon is Italy. Although they continue their steady improvement, AI only forecasts nothing more than picking up bonus points while avoiding any overwhelming defeats.
Can AI Be Beaten?
While AI predictions are rooted in data, the beauty of rugby lies in its unpredictability. Momentum swings, injuries, and tactical surprises could challenge the forecast and now we can see how it is currently faring:
Round 1
France 43-0 Wales – An emphatic win for France and far greater than AI’s prediction.
Scotland 31-19 Italy – Scotland get the job done but Italy make them sweat.
Ireland 27-22 England – A tight affair that sees the holders just come out on top.
Round 2
Italy 22-15 Wales – The first incorrect prediction from AI as Italy stun Wales and this defeat leads to Warren Gatland’s departure
England 26-25 France – While it is two for two in terms of shocks as England edge past France at Twickenham
Scotland 18-32 Ireland – No clean sweep in terms of Round 2 upsets as Ireland earn a routine win at Murrayfield.
Round 3
Wales 18-27 Ireland – Ireland come out on top but Wales certainly made them work for the win
England 16-15 Scotland – High drama at Twickenham as England win by a single point for the second time in two rounds.
Italy 24-73 France – Italy score well but their French counterparts are nothing short of emphatic in terms of their performance.
Round 4
Ireland 27-42 France – Ireland's reign as Six Nations champions looks under threat after suffering a home defeat to rivals France - going against AI's prediction.
Scotland 35-29 Wales – Wales edge closer to earning this year's Wooden Spoon after suffering a narrow defeat at Murrayfield.
England 47-24 Italy – England keep their slim title hopes alive with a win over Italy at Twickenham.
Round 5
Italy 17-22 Ireland – Ireland squeeze part the Italians but it is all for nothing in terms of Six Nations' honours
Wales 14-68 England – A miserable tournament for the Welsh as they collect the wooden spoon and English secure second.
France 35-16 Scotland – France secure Six Nations success in 2025 with a relatively comfortable home win over the Scots.

Pos | Team | Pld | W | D | L | BP | Pts |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
1 | France | 5 | 4 | 0 | 1 | 5 | 21 |
2 | England | 5 | 4 | 0 | 1 | 4 | 20 |
3 | Ireland | 5 | 4 | 0 | 1 | 3 | 19 |
4 | Scotland | 5 | 2 | 0 | 3 | 3 | 11 |
5 | Italy | 5 | 1 | 0 | 4 | 1 | 5 |
6 | Wales | 5 | 0 | 0 | 5 | 3 | 3 |
France scoop the glory at the expense of the Grand Slam and with them securing five Bonus Points in comparison to England's four, it is Fabien Galthié's men who have come out on top.
The top two on either side of the English Channel, not something that AI predicted as it suggested France and England would finish second and third respectively.
This also means that the prediction of Ireland winning another Six Nations title did not come to the fore and instead, the holders going into the 2025 tournament had to make do with finishing third overall.
While the only position that AI correctly predicted is the fourth place finish for Scotland. No change there but change at the bottom as Wales' miserable tournament comes to an end after losing all five of their games and also finishing behind the fifth place Italians.
Methodology
AI models analysed a wide range of factors, including recent form, player performance metrics, team dynamics, and historical trends. By processing thousands of data points, the AI model generated a comprehensive and unbiased projection of the tournament’s likely outcomes.
