2024 IndyCar Series Preview

The 2024 season of the IndyCar series is the 29th season under the current sanction and the 113th official championship with the season starting in Florida in early March and ending in Tennessee in mid-September.

Like other motorsports, IndyCar is looking to become a more 'Green' sport, tire manufacturer Firestone introduced a new environmentally friendly tire last season which is made from rubber that is harvested from guayule.

The new Hybrid engine is still set to be introduced, it will be a 2.2-liter engine after the original 2.4-liter engine was scrapped.

Which Sportsbook is Best for IndyCar? To help answer this question, we have created an article that looks at which Sportsbook is best for Motor Racing so head over to that, we also have a Motor Racing Betting Advice article which you may also find helpful.

The teams in 2024 will all use the Dallara IR18 chassis and it will be used along with the Universal Aero Kit and all will be using Firestone tires.

Past IndyCar Series Champions

The most successful driver under the current sanctioning body (since 1996) is New Zealander Scott Dixon who has won six championships, which is two ahead of British driver Dario Franchitti who won four between 2007 & 2011. The only other four drivers to record multiple championships are American drivers Sam Hornish Jr. (2001, 2002 & 2006), Josef Newgarden (2017 & 2019), and Australian Will Power (2014 & 2022) and the 2023 Champion Álex Palou who added to his 2021 success.

If you look at everything as a whole then A. J. Foyt is the most successful driver having won seven championships, those all came during the USAC era (1956-79).
