Former QPR Manager Gareth Ainsworth is the betting favourite to become the next Burton Albion manager after the club sacked Dino Maamria on Saturday.

Ainsworth is without a club since he was sacked by QPR after six straight league defeats saw them drop down to 23rd in the Championship but he may well come back into management here.

Bookies have instantly put him at the top of the betting market to get the Burton Albion job with the early market having him at 5/1 to takeover at the Pirelli Stadium.

OLBG have looked closely at the early market for the job with Ainsworth's odds from BetVictor suggesting an implied probability of 14% that he gets the Burton Albion manager's position next.

Following him in the odds list are Mark Bonner and Steve Cotterill with a fairly open market of managers with the sacking being so soon.

What the expert says...

Gareth Ainsworth is the early favourite with bookmakers to takeover from the departing Dino Maamria at Burton Albion with the betting market already up for the job! The latest odds put him at 6/1 at the top of the market ahead of Mark Bonner and Steve Cotterill.

Dino Maamria was sacked as manager after fourth consecutive league loss

Dino Maamria was dismissed as Burton manager on Saturday evening after the Brewers lost 2-1 against Stevenage to record four successive league defeats.

Maamria had been in charge of the Brewers for 15 months after he stepped up as Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink's assistant to take the job permanently.

His time in charge though ended with a short statement on the club's website on Saturday with the sacking confirmed "with immediate effect" according to chairman Ben Robinson.
