Manchester United are the 6/4 favourites to sign Everton's Jarrad Branthwaite this summer

Betting is now available on the summer transfer window with Everton centre-back Jarrad Branthwaite now 6/4 with bookmakers to sign for Manchester United as the club look for a big first window under new co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe.

Ratcliffe is expected to work with the Glazers to spend big money this summer and the first call will look at upgrading an aging defence that contains Jonny Evans, who is having his second spell at Old Trafford.

Recent reports in the Daily Star say that Branthwaite is United's number one target this summer even if they decide to sack Erik ten Hag in the summer with the Everton player impressing so far this season.

Branthwaite has made just 31 league appearances for the Toffees and his current contract has three years left, so it's expected to take a massive fee of more than £70m to take him from Sean Dyche's men this summer.

Paddy Power's latest odds put United as the 6/4 favourites in the betting market to sign Branthwaite with the latest betting odds giving a 40% implied probability of him moving to Old Trafford in the upcoming window.

Chelsea second favourites in the betting market at 4/1

Mauricio Pochettino's Chelsea are the 4/1 second favourites to sign Branthwaite this summer with the Blues another club who could look to strengthen their team in the upcoming transfer market.

Thiago Silva is now 39-years-old and he may well look to leave the club this summer which would leave a massive hole to be filled in the squad that they may look to fill in the window.

Levi Colwill is currently injured but it could well be that an all English centre-back partnership will be on the cards for Chelsea if they decide to make a move for Branthwaite this summer.
