Wigan Warriors are favourites for Super League this year after winning their sixth title last year.

St Helens were denied last season in their attempt at a sixth consecutive Super League title. Their season ended when defeated in the Play-Off semi-finals by Catalan 12-6. The Saints are clear second-favourite to regain the title .

Warrington Wolves are still looking for their first top-rank domestic title having finished runner-up on four occasions, most recently in 2018. Warrington improved on a dismal display in 2022 when they finished second last in the league table to make the play-offs in 2023. The Wolves lost out 16-8 to eventual runner-up St. Helens in the eliminator round.

Catalans Dragons will be playing in their seventeenth season in Super League and won the League Leader's Shield for the first time in 2021. They then went on to make the Super League Grand Final in 2021 and 2023, losing out to St. Helens in '21 and to Wigan last year.

Leeds Rhinos saw their record of eight Super League wins eclipsed when St Helens captured their ninth title in 2021. The Yorkshire team tried hard to get back parity at the top of the all-time Super League wins table in 2022 but ultimately lost out to the Saints in that year's final, 24-12. 2023 was a major disappointment for the Rhinos as they failed to make the play-offs having finished eighth in the league

The twelve-team Super League for 2024 is made up by Hull FC, Castleford Tigers, Huddersfield Giants, Hull Kingston Rovers, Salford Red Devils, Leigh Leopards and the newly prompted, London Broncos.

As you can see from above, being the league leader after the close of the regular season is something of a poisoned chalice with only eight of the twenty league leaders going on to actually lift the Super League trophy.
