Who won the 2024 Super League?
Wigan Warriors completed history on Saturday 12th October when they won the final leg of an amazing four-title season. Wigan defeated Hull KR 9-2 in a hard-fought final to record the clean sweep of the World Club Challenge, Challenge Cup, League Leaders' Shield and the Super League Grand Final. No Super League team has managed to win all four titles in one season before.
Hull KR were trying to win their first major title since taking the then First Division title in the 1984/85 season. Hull KR had also finished runners-up to Wigan for the League Leaders' Shield, losing out by just two points over the course of the season.
in a tight final, Australian Bevan French scored the only try of the game in the 23rd minute. Adam Keighran converted after the try and then Harry Smith contributed a drop goal after 40 minutes. Hull KR made it onto the scoreboard via a penalty from Mikey Lewis in the 57th minute and finally, Keighran scored a penalty for Wigan on 62 minutes to complete the scoring.
Bevan French received the Rob Burrow Award as the player of the match.
Wigan were completing back-to-back Super League Grand Finals for the first time in their history and have now won the overall title seven times.
When is the 2025 Super League?
The 2025 season will run from the opening fixture on Thursday 13th February through to the Grand Final on Saturday 11th October
The 2025 season sees the return of the Magic Weekend to St James' Park in Newcastle over the Bank Holiday weekend of 3rd and 4th May. Six games will take place over the two days in a feast of rugby league.
As well as Magic Weekend, the 2025 season sees Wigan and Warrington playing one game at the Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas on Saturday 1st March as part of a rugby league festival in the USA which will also see games played by the top teams in the NRL.
Twelve teams will contest Superleague XXX with Wakefield Trinity returning to top-flight rugby league after winning the Championship Grand Final. London Broncos drop down to the Championship for 2025.
Ten games this season will be shown live on BBC Sport. A further five games will be shown via BBC iPlayer.

What is the Super League Format?
- Super League involves twelve teams that play each other twice on a home and away basis.
- The 12 clubs also play an additional six fixtures on a loop format to bring the number of games played by each team in a season to 27.
- The 27 games include the 'Magic Weekend' where one full round of fixtures takes place over one weekend at one venue.
- At the end of the regular 27 fixture season, the top-six teams enter into the playoffs.

As you can see below the number of winning favourites can jump up and down with each season, 2016 was a low in the past ten seasons with just 62% of favourites winning their games whilst 2024 was a high with 77% of favourites winning, that is quite a big gap between those two seasons.
In total the last ten season's have seen on average 70% of favourites winning, so the 2024 season was well above that, it was the most successful season for favourites since 2018 which saw 75% successful.

Super League Records
Who has won the most Super League Grand Finals?
St. Helens leads the way in terms of wins have picked up ten titles, their first coming in 1996 and their most recent being in 2022, they have also been runners-up five times.
As already mentioned, only four clubs have won the Super League since 1996, the other three are Leeds (8), Wigan (7) and Bradford (4).
Who won the Man of Steel award?
The 2024 Man of Steel award went to the scrum-half Mikey Lewis of Hull KR, he was the first winner of the award from Hull KR since Gavin Miller won it in 1986.
There are only four players who have picked the award multiple times and they are Ellery Hanley (3), Paul Sculthorpe (2), Andy Farrell (2) and Sam Tomkins (2).
Wigan Warriors have supplied the most winners of the award with twelve players from there winning whilst 33 of the winners were English players.
