The USA will head into the 2027 tournament looking to become the joint-most successful country at the FIVB Volleyball Men's World Cup, they have three wins to their name and a fourth would tie them with the Soviet Union's record of four.

They picked up their first gold medal in 1985 and have been one of the more dominant countries since then along with Brazil.

Dominant Brazil in 2019!

During the 2019 tournament, Brazil went 11-0, during which they won 33 sets and only gave up 5, they recorded a total of seven 3-0 victories during the tournament on their way to winning gold!

In the ten tournaments since their first gold medal, they have only finished outside the top four teams once which was in 2011.

Over the last four tournaments, the favourites have on average been successful around 81% of the time which is not a bad return. 2015 was a bumper year with 86% of successful favourites, there have been 109 who have been really short, 1.10 or shorter and 105 of those have gone on to win, which is a 96.33% success rate. Those between 1.11 & 1.40 average a 79.31% success rate, however, when you start looking at 1.51 or bigger the success rate drops dramatically and indicates these are the sort of favourites to be taken on and these only have a success rate of 50% meaning half of those lost.
