George Galloway is the odds-on favourite to win this month's Rochdale by-election
By-Election betting continues to be offered by bookmakers ahead of yet another election on the way in the UK this month.
Wellingborough and Kingswood were both won by Labour earlier this month and we now see Rochdale the latest constituency up for voting in February.
The latest betting odds with Paddy Power though say it will be the Workers Party of Britain that win the Rochdale race with George Galloway the 8/15 to win the race here.
Galloway's views in the past have been controversial to say the least with the former Labour MP previously expelled from the party in 2003 for calling out "Tony Blair’s lie machine".
Rochdale By-Election | Odds | Probability |
---|---|---|
Workers Party of Britain | 8/15 | 65.2% |
Labour | 11/8 | 42.1% |
Liberal Democrats | 20/1 | 4.8% |
Reform UK | 66/1 | 1.5% |
Conservative | 100/1 | 1.0% |
What the expert says...
Labour second favourites behind the Workers Party of Britain in the odds
Labour withdrew their support for Azhar Ali earlier this month after his alleged past comments on Hamas, Israel and Jewish people came into the spotlight.
Ali's name will still sit alongside the Labour logo on ballot papers in the by-election but it looks increasingly likely that he would be an independent if he won as he is currently suspended by the party.
Labour's 10,000 majority that they have had in the past could now be up in the air and that's part of the reason why Galloway has been backed into favourite.

By-Election called in Rochdale following the death of Labour MP Sir Tony Lloyd
The Rochdale By-Election was called at the end of January following the sad passing of Labour MP Sir Tony Lloyd on January 17.
Back in January 2023, Lloyd announced he was undergoing chemotherapy after being diagnosed with cancer and 12 months after sadly stated his Leukaemia was untreatable.
Lloyd's death ultimately lead to his position as MP of Rochdale being free leading to the By-Election which will take place on February 29.
