American Chess grandmaster Fabiano Caruana is the clear favourite in the betting market to win the 2024 Candidates Tournament with bookies now offering odds.

Caruana and seven other players will go against each other for the 2024 Candidates Tournament with the winner then going on to play in the 2024 World Championship.

The American won the US Chess Championship once again in 2023 and goes into this year as one of the most in-form players across the globe.

Unibet's latest odds put him well clear in the betting market to win the competition with those odds suggesting there's a 40% chance that he wins the tournament.

2023 World Championship runner-up Ian Nepomniachtchi is second favourite

2023 World Championship runner-up Ian Nepomniachtchi is the second favourite in the betting odds to win the Candidates Tournament this year and therefore compete again at the Worlds.

Nepomniachtchi though now sits at 7th in the overall world ranking and the betting odds suggest there's a 20% chance he wins the Candidates Tournament this year.

The Russian Grandmaster only lost the 2023 World Championship through the speed games after drawing in the classical games format.
