Avatar 2 is 15/8 to be the highest grossing film of 2022 with Top Gun: Maverick still favourite
Avatar 2, the sequel to James Cameron's Box Office Hit Avatar, has drifted to 13/8 in the betting odds to be the highest grossing film of 2022.
Top Gun: Maverick is the highest grossing film of the year so far with $1,442,543,869 made already this year.
Avatar 2 is set to be released in the middle of December giving it just 16 or so days to make such a large amount which is improbable.
Highest Grossing Film 2022 | Odds | Probability |
---|---|---|
Top Gun: Maverick | 4/9 | 69.2% |
Avatar 2 | 15/8 | 54.5% |
Black Panther: Wakanda Forever | 9/1 | 34.8% |
Black Adam | 16/1 | 5.9% |
Halloween Ends | 16/1 | 5.9% |
Black Panther is set to be released in November and Marvel films usually always hit a high figure in terms of gross from the Box Office.
Avatar 2 remains 15/8 in the betting market to be the highest grossing film of 2022 despite not being released until 16th December. This would give it just two weeks to surpass the $1.4b figure leading the way currently.

Top Gun: Maverick remains the biggest film of this year so far
Top Gun: Maverick is the biggest film of Tom Cruise's career at the Box Office with more than $1.4b taken at the Box Office.
Mission: Impossible - Fallout was Cruise's previous highest grossing film with $791m earned globally but that's been smashed by Top Gun: Maverick.
The sequel to the 1986 film Top Gun, Maverick has been praised highly by critics and at the Box Office it has exceeded expectations massively.
The movie is clear favourite to be the highest grossing film of 2022 from the 16/1 it was just at the start of June.
Top Gun: Maverick is by far the biggest film of the year at the Box Office and is now 4/9 to win that accolade at the end of the year. This is a massive change in the odds from the 16/1 that the film was at the start of June.
