Lyudmila Ulitskaya is the bookies favourite to win the 2024 Nobel Literature Prize
Bookmakers have placed Russian author Lyudmila Ulitskaya as the early favourite to win the 2024 Nobel Literature Prize with the full list of contenders up in the betting list.
The Russian Novelist has won various awards in the past for her work including the Pak Kyong-ni Prize in 2012 and the 2002 Russian Booker Prize and now could be a contender for the Nobel Literature Prize.
Arguably the biggest prize in literature, the Nobel Prize in Literature in the words of Alfred Nobel is awarded to the person who "in the field of literature, produced the most outstanding work in an idealistic direction".
The latest betting odds suggest a 16% chance that Ulitskaya wins the Nobel Literature Prize this year with the Prize expected to be awarded in October.

Jon Fosse won the 2023 Nobel Literature Prize towards the back end of the year
Norwegian Novelist and Playwright Jon Fosse won the 2023 Nobel Literature Prize with the award announced at the start of October for his works that “give voice to the unsayable.”
Fosse’s work has been translated into more than 40 languages which has seen him become one of the most recognisable playwrights in the world.
The total award to win the Nobel Literature Prize is 11m Swedish Krona which loosely translates to around £824,000 so it's a lucrative one to win as well as the global claim you receive too.
