Current MP Margaret Ferrier faces calls to step down

Margaret Ferrier has faced massive pressure to step down in her role as the member of parliament for the Rutherglen and Hamilton West constituency in recent weeks.

The Parliament’s Standards Committee published their report on the conduct of Ferrier during the Covid lockdown with several rule breaches happening.

Ferrier now faces calls to resign from the role but it may well be that a recall petition is triggered if MPs back the suspension that was suggested by the PSC.

If 10% of registered voters sign the petition within six weeks then Ferrier will lose her seat and the by-election will take place.
