Chris Wilder and Barry Robson share favouritism at 3/1 to take over at Pittodrie next

Chris Wilder and Barry Robson are the early favourites with bookies to become the next Aberdeen manager with the Dons looking for a new man to take over at Pittodrie.

The Dons are without a manager after the dismissal of Jim Goodwin at the weekend and Chris Wilder has been spoke of already as a potential replacement.

Barry Robson is the current interim first team manager at Aberdeen and BetVictor say he's got an equal chance as Wilder of taking over permanently with odds of 3/1.

Neil Lennon 5/1 16.7%

Danny Cowley and Neil Lennon are next in the betting with bookmakers giving them both a 16% chance of taking over with odds of 5/1.

Cowley is without a job since being sacked by Portsmouth after a run of 9 games in League One without a win saw them slide down the league table.

Jim Goodwin sacked following 6-0 loss to Hibs at the weekend

Aberdeen decided to dismiss Jim Goodwin as manager in a matter of minutes after their 6-0 defeat to Hibernian at Easter Road on Saturday.

The Dons needed to bounce back after their embarrassing loss to sixth tier Darvel the week prior but failed to do so with another bad performance.

The announcement of Goodwin's departure came just 19 minutes after full-time with chairman Dave Cormack apologising for the loss afterwards.

"Like the fans, I felt quite humiliated today and I'm sorry. I am rightly taking the pelters. I deserve it but I am determined to get it right", said Cormack.

Aberdeen sit in 7th in the Scottish Premiership table with 9 points separating them from the bottom of the league

It isn't all doom and gloom for Aberdeen despite the side sitting 7th in the Scottish Premiership table with bookies still making them 1/4 to finish in the Top 6.

The latest odds see Aberdeen at 1000/1 to finish bottom of the league this season with a further free-fall not expected to happen.

A big midweek game against St Mirren is next up for the Dons and Barry Robson could well use it as a job interview for the permanent role.
