Comedian Ellie Taylor is the 9/2 favourite to be the next Great British Bake Off host

Comedian Ellie Taylor remains the 9/2 favourite to be the next host of Great British Bake Off after being installed at the top of the betting since Matt Lucas announced he was leaving the show.

Taylor became somewhat of a household name following her spell on Strictly Come Dancing last year so it may be that she fits right into the Baking series.

With Bake Off being such a massive part of British television it's no surprise that UK betting sites are offering odds on who will be the next presenter on the show.

The latest odds put Taylor as the favourite in the market with an 18% chance of getting the job alongside Noel Fielding with Betway having a whole list of contenders to get the job.

Richard Ayoade was backed in to 5/1 to become a host on Bake Off after Matt Lucas left the show

Presenter and Comedian Richard Ayoade has been backed into 5/1 with bookies to be the next host of the Great British Bake Off Lucas' departure.

Ayoade has previous hosting experience on Channel 4, the current home of Bake Off, with presenting jobs such as Travel Man and Crystal Maze on the channel.

Betway give Ayoade a 16% chance of hosting Bake Off alongside Noel Fielding who has been a duo with Ayoade before on the Big Fat Quiz of the Year on Channel 4.

Bosses for the channel may like the rapport that the duo have on that programme and see it transfer easily over to Bake Off in future.

Matt Lucas announced he will be leaving in a statement back in December

Matt Lucas announced his departure from Bake Off at the start of December in what came as a shock with no previous rumours of the comedian leaving the role.

The comic said in a Twitter post that he couldn't present both Bake Off and his new show Fantasy Football League as well as other projects, with rumours that he'll be working with David Walliams again.

Thanking the production crew and Channel 4, as well as his fellow presenter Noel Fielding and the judges, Lucas's statement brought soggy eyes to Bake Off fans around the country.
