Whether he has enough improvement in him to trouble today’s odds on favourite is questionable, but at odds of 15.00 I reckon he has to be worth an EW investment to come on for his latest effort (and dropped 1lb in the handicap) to finish in the first 4

Returned to form 2 outings back (Nov.2023) with a 1½ lengths win in a Class 5 3m1f hcp and followed up with another win, 9 days ago having gone up 5lbs in the handicap, beating a field of 6 by ¾ length, C5, 1m7½f, with a 10lbs claimer taking over in the saddle. His 2 recent wins came on Good ground, but having previously shown he can perform on a softer surface and also having won over today’s distance I reckon having only his 4th outing since switching yard, there could be more to come from this runner as he runs today having gone up another 5lbs in the handicap, but, retains the services of a 10lbs claimer

Although Brentford have already beaten Luton, 3-1, this season, this was before their form took a downwards turn in which they have since won only 3 of 19 games. With both teams needing points to avoid relegation, I reckon this game will be a lot closer than their previous meeting this season and with Luton having managed to avoid defeat in 5 of 7 home games against teams below 11th in the league, I think it could pay to back Luton to avoid defeat today by backing them on the AH with +0.25 goals

Leicester have lost 6 of their last 10 games, with 2 of the losses coming in their last 2 games to teams sitting in the bottom half of the league, so I will chance they could struggle to take a win against a West Brom Side who have beaten and drawn with both the league leaders, Ipswich and 3rd placed Leeds, this season. Prior to their home defeat to Sunderland last week (when reduced to 10 men in the 4rd min.) West Brom had been in an unbeaten run of 9 games, W5 D4 L0, so there could be a good chance of them taking a draw today (if not a win at the big odds of 6.50), so the bet for me will be West Brom with +1 goal @ 1.93

Nice have not been in the best of form, with their last 10 games resulting in W2 D3 L7 and 2 of the 5 losses coming against teams in the bottom 6, so, having also dropped points in 7 of 10 games played against the bottom 6 sides, I fancy the chances of a Lorient side who have taken points from 6 of their last 10 games to have a decent chance pf taking something from this game and as such I reckon the bet to go for has to be Lorient on the AH with +1 goal @ 1.92, which would still see a return of stake if they lost the game by only a 1 goal margin

A 2 times hurdles winner from 6 outings (1m7½f & 2m) Put in a decent effort on her handicap debut in January this year when finishing 5¾ lengths 3rd of 11 in a Class 3 1m7½f hcp on Sft ground and running off a mark of 113. She failed to finish in her only hurdles outing since her hcp debut when pulled up in a 2m2f Listed Handicap Hurdle, 75 days ago. She could benefit from the drop back to 2m today and a drop in the handicap puts her 1lb below her handicap debut mark, so with conditions to suit and Brian Hughes returning to the saddle (1 win & 1 runner up from 2 rides) I thought she has to be worth backing at double figure odds to finish in the first 4, although I am wondering if something is amiss with 51.00 currently available. (Opened around 22.0 on exchange, drifted out to 100 and now price @ 75)

Has been steadily improving over 5 runs since returning from a long break in November last year, firstly in 3 chase outings and also when switched to hurdling in her last 2 runs in which she finished runner up in both (Heavy). She has won 4 of 7 Hurdles outings, all Novices over 1m7f to 2m4½f on GS & Sft ground. She has been eased 1lb in the handicap, so in her current form and with the only question mark possiby being the ground (has yet to run under rules on Good ground, but won 2 of 3 outings on GS ground) I think she has to be worth chancing with an EW bet at odds of 19.00 (with payouts to 5 places)

A Bumper and Hurdles winner who has taken well to chasing, filling runner up spot in 2 of 4 runs and a 3 lengths 3rd of 8 in her latest outing with 3 of the 8 runners winning next time out (and another beaten only a short head into 2nd). She runs off an unchanged mark today and with 2 of her 3 wins coming on Good ground it should be no surprise to see her involved in the finish today

Won a 2m Maiden Hurdle in February and followed up with another win, 2 weeks later, in a 2m Handicap, running off a mark of 105. A 7lbs rise in the handicap didn’t hold her back in her next run, 25 days ago, when stepping up in grade to a Class 2 hcp in which she finished only 1¼ lengths behind the winner, so with only a 1lb rise after her latest run and her form heading in the right direction I reckon she could be a banker to make the placings

Barnsley are on a poor run of form and the home win looks likely, but, Barnsley have taken points from 5 of 9 games played against the top 6 teams so I think I’ll give betting on the match outcome a miss and instead will have a bet on this game to end with 3 or more goals. Portsmouth have been in fine goal scoring form at home recently with their last 7 resulting in them scoring 2 or more goals in each of the 7 games for a total of 20 goals, but, they failed to keep a clean sheet in any of the 7 games, conceding a total of 8. Barnsley, despite their poor recent form of W2 D3 L4, have scored in 8 of their last 9 games for a total of 13 goals, but conceded 18 in the 9 games, so I expect we could be on for a game with at least 3 goals (maybe 4 or 5!)

Put in a good effort over C&D 3 outings back (Nov. 2023) when finishing 3½ lengths behind the winner after not getting a clear run at 3f & 1f out and although finishing last of 12 on stepping up to 1m4½f (at Newcastle) the following month, I think he could be worth an interest today on dropping back to 1m2f having been eased 1lb in the handicap and coming here on the back of a decent effort over hurdles in February this year.

He has shown he can handle today’s ground, so with only a 2lbs rise in the handicap to cope with and his usual 7lbs claimer in the saddle, I wouldn’t be surprised to see him being one of the first 3 home
