China have shortened from 5/1 into 7/2 to get the most Gold Medals at the Paris Olympics this summer

The Olympic Games will take place in Paris this summer and bookmakers continue to offer odds on which country will win the most Gold Medals at the event.

China are the only country in the last 8 editions of the Olympics to get more Gold Medals than the USA but that was at their home Olympics back in 2008.

Bookies have shortened their odds from 5/1 into 7/2 to get the most Gold Medals with support for them in the betting market in recent months.

The betting market sees China the only real rivals against the USA at the Olympics with their chances of having the top Gold Medals at 22% according to the odds.

USA remain favourites to get the most Gold Medals at the Summer Olympics

Previous Olympic Games have been dominated by the USA with their total Gold Medals seeing them top the table in 7 of the last 8 Summer Olympics and it's likely it'll be the same again this year.

The latest betting odds have them at 1/6 to win the most Gold Medals which has drifted from the 1/10 that they were at back in November last year.

Those odds though suggest an 85% chance that the USA top of Gold Medal tally with another dominant display expected by the country this summer.

Great Britain are as big as 80/1 in the betting market

Great Britain will be desperate for a good showing at the Olympics this time around with the short trip across the Channel potentially a positive for their hopes this summer.

The betting odds though give Great Britain just a 1.2% chance of getting the most Gold Medals behind third favourites Japan at 66/1 to do so.

Great Britain finished in 4th place in the Gold Medal table at the last Olympic Games with Japan, China and the USA all finishing above them.
