Michael Carrick is 1/2 to take over at Swindon Town with the club looking for a new manager
Michael Carrick is 1/2 to take over at Swindon Town as the club are currently looking for a new manager after Ben Garner's departure.
Carrick hasn't been in a coaching role since leaving Manchester United earlier last season after his brief caretaker role after Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's dismissal.
Bookies make him the favourite in the betting market and he's a big favourite too with Mark Delaney second at odds of 6/1.
Next Swindon Town Manager | Odds | Probability |
---|---|---|
Michael Carrick | 1/2 | 66.7% |
Mark Delaney | 6/1 | 14.3% |
Paul Caddis | 12/1 | 7.7% |
Andrew Crofts | 12/1 | 7.7% |
Ryan Mason | 20/1 | 4.8% |
Carrick has been linked with a whole host of managerial jobs after he left Manchester United, with his popularity always at a high point.
The former Man United midfielder has massive respect from his playing career and is known to be a good coach too according to United players.
Previous manager Ben Garner left the club to join Charlton this Summer
Ben Garner announced his departure from Swindon to take over at Charlton earlier this month which left Town looking for a new manager.
Garner's departure means that Swindon are looking for their fourth manager in the last two years but it's not all doom and gloom according to owner Clem Morfuni.
“If the head coach moves on, the philosophy of the club carries on and the playing squad does not need to be a complete overhaul," said Morfuni.
This means that it'll not be a complete reset when a new manager comes in, but more of a replacement of a part in the overall Swindon Town machine.
Swindon are 14/1 to win League Two this season after good season last year
Swindon are 14/1 to win League Two this season with last year's season being successful finishing in 6th place in the table.
Disappointingly though they lost in the Play-Offs to eventual winners Port Vale on penalties and this will have been tough to take.
Whoever comes into the manager's position at Swindon will know that they have a competitive squad to do well in this upcoming season.
At odds of 3/1 just to be promoted, there are only four teams above them in that market showing that they have a good chance of doing so.
Salford, Stockport, Bradford and Mansfield all have better odds and will be competing in a highly competitive division next season.
