Luton Town have sacked manager Matt Bloomfield following Saturday’s 2-0 defeat at Stevenage, which left the Hatters sitting 11th in the League One table.

Bloomfield, who left Wycombe Wanderers earlier this year to take the job at Kenilworth Road, oversaw Luton’s second successive relegation last season and has now paid the price for a poor run of form that has seen them lose four of their last seven league games.

UK Betting Sites are now giving odds on who will replace Bloomfield with a whole host of popular names appearing in the market for the next Luton Town manager.

In a statement, the club said that “performances and results from the opening 11 matches have fallen below the levels expected,” confirming Bloomfield’s departure alongside assistant Richard Thomas, first-team coach Lee Harrison, and analyst Ben Cirne.

Academy coach and former player Alex Lawless will take interim charge ahead of Tuesday’s EFL Trophy clash with Cambridge United.

BetVictor have full odds available with Luke Williams the clear favourite in the market at 4/1.

Williams Leads Early Market

Luke Williams, previously at the helm of Swansea City, leads the early betting at 4/1 to become the next permanent Luton Town manager.

His reputation for attacking football and player development has made him an attractive candidate in recent managerial markets, though whether he'd jump into the role at Luton remains to be seen.

Ian Evatt (5/1) was last seen at Bolton Wanderers, steering them into consistent promotion contention in League One.

He could be viewed as a natural fit for Luton’s current situation, with strong tactical credentials and a good track record at this level.

Richie Wellens (6/1) also features prominently in the market having earned plaudits for his attacking style at Leyton Orient.

His success in lifting clubs through the lower leagues makes him another logical name linked with the Hatters.

Expert Insight

What the expert says...
Luke Williams is the standout name and favourite for a good reason. Ian Evatt feels a more realistic fit as he’s proven in League One and could be ready for a new challenge after leaving Bolton back in January. Don’t rule out a left-field choice, though as Luton have a history of surprising appointments.
