Betting is now available on who will be the next Gillingham manager after the sacking of Neil Harris on Thursday and it's Karl Robinson who leads the way as favourite according to bookmakers.

Neil Harris was dismissed by Gillingham on Thursday after a 2-0 defeat to Crewe on Tuesday saw the Gills drop down to eight in the League Two table and one point of automatic promotion.

American owner Brad Galinson said in a statement on Twitter on Thursday afternoon, "The team, Neil, Kenny, myself had a hard morning. Neil was one of the first “Brits” I met in December.  He remains one of the highest quality individuals I have ever met.  He is a friend above all. The team must evolve and it will.  Thank you, Neil."

The sacking of Neil Harris by Gillingham may have come as a surprise to some with the club just 4 points off top, but the board clearly have big ambitions to go up this season.

Keith Millen will be in temporary charge of the first team while the board look for a replacement for Harris with the 53-year-old in charge of the club's academy.

The managerial merry-go-round seems to have been kicked off in the EFL this week with Xisco Munoz and Mark Hughes both losing their jobs at Sheffield United and Bradford City respectively earlier this week.
