Leam Richardson is the early favourite to be the next Carlisle United manager

Betting odds are now available on who will be the next Carlisle United manager with bookmakers placing Leam Richardson as the early favourite in the market to take over.

Richardson has managed Accrington Stanley, Wigan Athletic and most recently Rotherham and his name has constantly popped up in betting markets around the Football League.

It's no different here with BetVictor placing him as the 4/1 favourite to take over at Carlisle United after Mike Williamson was sacked on Monday with the club bottom of the League Two table.

Williamson had been in charge for just 4 months after replacing Paul Simpson back in September but just five wins in 25 in all competitions has seen their season come to a slump.

Mike Williamson sacked by Carlisle on Monday after 5-1 loss at the weekend

Mike Williamson was dismissed by Carlisle United on Monday morning after the Cumbrians were thrashed 5-1 at home to Swindon on Saturday.

Carlisle sit five points off safety in League Two and are the bottom team in the Football League with a struggling season under Williamson.

That defeat was the last straw for their owners who decided to relieve him of his duties and look for a new manager.
