Neil Warnock is the betting favourite to be the next Cardiff manager
Neil Warnock is the shock favourite with bookies to be the next Cardiff manager after Mark Hudson's dismissal at the weekend.
Hudson was relieved of his duties after a 1-1 draw at home to bottom side Wigan left the team three points above the relegation zone.
BetVictor have made Warnock the 1/2 favourite to take over at the Bluebirds next but that would mean he would have to come out of retirement.
Next Cardiff Manager | Odds | Probability |
---|---|---|
Neil Warnock | 1/2 | 66.7% |
Leam Richardson | 10/1 | 9.1% |
Dean Whitehead | 10/1 | 9.1% |
Dean Smith | 12/1 | 7.7% |
Chris Wilder | 12/1 | 7.7% |
Warnock announced his retirement last April after 42 years in management but he may well be tempted with another spell at Cardiff.
The former Cardiff manager described his time at the club as "some of the best days in his long football career" in his statement when leaving the club in 2019.
Leam Richardson and Dean Whitehead joint second favourites
Former Wigan manager Leam Richardson is the joint second favourite to take over at Cardiff next alongside Dean Whitehead in the odds.
Richardson has been without a club after leaving Wigan back in November just 16 days after signing a new three-year contract with the club.
Dean Whitehead is the current caretaker manager of Cardiff and it could well be that they keep him on if he has good form in the role.

Cardiff now 3/1 to be relegated this season
Cardiff are now 3/1 to be relegated from the Championship as they currently sit three points from safety in the league.
Four clubs sit above Cardiff in the betting with Rotherham, Huddersfield, Blackpool and Wigan all shorter in the odds.
Bottom club Wigan are 8/15 to be relegated with their fortunes not changing since Kolo Toure took over as manager.
Cardiff's odds will likely lengthen if Warnock takes over with his management style likely preventing them from being relegated.
