Big Sam Allardyce is the 2/1 favourite to take over at Burnley

Friday saw the shock news that Burnley had sacked their long-standing manager Sean Dyche with the team in the relegation zone.

As always when there's a team fighting in the relegation battle and dismiss their manager, Sam Allardyce instantly comes in as one of the bookies favourites in the betting market.

'Big Sam' has big history keeping teams in the division, so Burnley may look at him to try and help them do the same here.

Next Burnley Manager Odds Probability
Sam Allardyce 2/1 33.3%
Chris Wilder 5/2 28.6%
Wayne Rooney 9/2 18.2%
David Unsworth 9/1 10%
Rafa Benitez 9/1 10%

Chris Wilder features in the betting market, with his footballing style helping him get Sheffield United promoted to the Premier League a couple of years ago.

Wilder has since left the Blades and currently sees himself managing Middlesbrough, where he's turned fortunes around there and got them into the play-off conversation.

The job that he's done so far in just a matter of months at the Riverside has seen them include an FA Cup win away at Man United in their record.

Big Sam is the 2/1 favourite to take over at Turf Moor with a massive relegation dog fight ongoing currently. Allardyce has previous of keeping teams in the Premier League and the Clarets may look at that as a big chance of helping them do so.

Wayne Rooney features in the market at 9/2

Wayne Rooney is one of the most popular managers that are currently in the Football League after the job he has done at Derby County.

Despite points deductions, transfer bans and so on, Rooney has managed to somehow get to April with the hopes of safety still on the cards.

Two points deductions equalling 21 points have all but relegated the Rams and without that they'd be comfortably safe in the Championship.

Rooney has surprisingly fit into football management quickly, with this being his first role in that position.

If Derby do go down, Rooney and the club may look at parting ways and Burnley could well look at Rooney as the man to take their club forward.

Burnley captain Ben Mee is 18/1 to take over from Dyche

Ben Mee was a trending topic throughout the Twitter-sphere on Friday after reports emerged that he would be on the management team going into last weekend's away game to West Ham.

U23's boss Mike Jackson was the main manager, but a number of coaches were called up with him including Mee to manage the Clarets until a new manager is assigned.

Mee is the club captain at Burnley and clearly has the respect of the players, so it's actually very clever of Burnley to call Mee up into this joint player/coach position.

At odds of 18/1, Mee features in the betting market to replace Sean Dyche in a long term role, but it's unclear to see if the Clarets want more experience in the role.

What is clear that if Mee and co keep the Clarets in the Premier League then there will be questions asked about a long-term appointment.

Burnley club captain Ben Mee is a massive 18/1 inclusion in the market to take over after Sean Dyche's reign, despite him being promoted into the management team on a temporary basis. If Burnley do stay up, Mee could well be in the frame to take over permanently.
