Neil Critchley is now 4/1 to make a return to Blackpool

The hunt is on for the next Blackpool manager and former Tangerines boss Neil Critchley has been backed into joint favourite at 4/1 in the market.

Critchley left the club back in 2022 to become Steven Gerrard’s assistant at Aston Villa and reports suggest that a return could well be on the cards.

Sunday Mirror journalist Darren Witcoop reported that Blackpool had “sounded out” Critchley for a return to the club in the Summer.

BetVictor now put Critchley alongside Karl Robinson as favourite in the betting market with a 20% chance of doing so according to the odds.

Karl Robinson and Graham Alexander alongside Critchley in the betting

The betting market for the next Blackpool manager sees both Karl Robinson and Graham Alexander also at 4/1 to take over the club next.

Both Robinson and Alexander are without clubs so joining Blackpool wouldn't need any sort of compensation to be agreed with a current club.

Robinson has been linked with many roles in recent months and was a short priced contender for the Tranmere job at one point before drifting out to 8/1 in that market.

Blackpool are now just 1/50 to be relegated this season

Betting is still available for relegation in the Championship this season and Blackpool are as short as 1/50 to go down from the division this season.

Judging by those odds it will take a miracle for the Tangerines to stay up this season and with 5 games left and 7 points from safety it’s unlikely they’ll stay up.

Wigan have the slimmest chance of staying up this season with bookies making them 1/100 to go down from the Championship this campaign.

Championship Relegation 22/23 Odds Probability
Wigan 1/100 99%
Blackpool 1/50 98%
QPR 5/4 44.4%
Reading 7/4 36.4%
Huddersfield 11/4 26.7%
