Joe Lycett is the outright favourite at 7/2 to be the next presenter of the Great British Bake Off
Comedian Joe Lycett is the bookies favourite to be the next presenter of the Great British Bake Off with Matt Lucas announcing his departure on Tuesday.
Lucas leaves big shoes to fill after three series and 51 episodes in the famous tent and Channel 4 bosses will already be on the lookout for his replacement.
Lycett is the 7/2 favourite according to Ladbrokes who give him a 22.2% chance of taking over from fellow comedian Lucas.
Next Bake Off Host | Odds | Probability |
---|---|---|
Joe Lycett | 7/2 | 22.2% |
Nadiya Hussain | 4/1 | 20.0% |
Amelia Dimoldenberg | 5/1 | 16.7% |
Ellie Taylor | 6/1 | 14.3% |
Jayde Adams | 7/1 | 12.5% |
Second favourite Nadiya Hussain has experience in the Bake Off tent after winning the sixth series of the show back in 2015 when it was on the BBC.
Third favourite Amelia Dimoldenberg currently presents her own cooking show on YouTube as well as Chicken Shop Date so may bring in a younger audience.
Matt Lucas announced he will be leaving in a statement on Tuesday evening
Matt Lucas announced his departure from the show on Tuesday in what was a shock statement with no previous rumours of his departure.
The comic said in his Twitter post that he couldn't present both Bake Off and his new show Fantasy Football League as well as doing other projects.
Thanking the production crew and Channel 4, as well as his fellow presenter Noel Fielding and the judges, Lucas's statement will have brought soggy eyes to Bake Off fans.
Former Bake Off winner Nadiya Hussain is second favourite in the betting
Nadiya Hussain is the second favourite in the betting to replace Matt Lucas as the second presenter on Bake Off and she would be a popular replacement.
Hussain has been in the public eye ever since she won Bake Off back in 2015 and since winning the show she's gone on to bigger and better things.
Food documentaries, cooking shows on the BBC and regularly contributing on the One Show has seen her popularity grow more and more.
A return to the Bake Off tent as a presenter may be the perfect full circle for Hussain 7 years on from winning the baking show.
