Bookies now make it 11/8 that we'll see more than 193 yellow cards shown at Euro 2024 this summer with rule change on the way
Card markets across UK Betting Sites for this summer's Euro 2024 tournament have been hammered in the past 24 hours following reports that referees will immediately book players who approach them to complain.
According to journalist Sam Dean on X, "players at the Euros have been told that only the captain will be allowed to speak to the referee during games" with any other players receiving an instant yellow card for approaching.
This has seen the betting line change for the amount of yellow cards shown at the Euros this summer with bookies originally making the under/over line 182 yesterday.
That has since changed to 193 for the overs line with Quinnbet now having over 193 yellow cards awarded in the tournament at odds of 11/8.
Euro 2024 - Total Yellow Cards Shown | Odds | Probability |

Under 183 | 2/1 | 33.3% |
183-193 inclusive | 21/10 | 32.3% |
What the expert says...
Previous tournaments have only seen that tally hit once in the past 20 years
The past five European Championships have seen the overs tally of 193 hit just once, with 205 total yellow cards handed out back in 2012.
Six red cards were handed out in 2004's tournament held in Portugal which is seen as the worst in terms of overall discipline.
Euro 2020, held in 2021 due to COVID, saw a total of 151 yellow cards in the 51 games which worked out at an average of 2.96 per match.

Further odds prices have been slashed when it comes to card specials at the Euros
Bookmakers have continued to offer a variety of betting markets around cards at the tournament due to the introduction of Request A Bet's and Bet Builder's over the years.
Included in those odds that have been slashed has seen Coral cut their odds of 1+ card in every game from 7/2 into 6/4 in the past 24 hours.
Two or more cards awarded in each game now sits at 14/1 ahead of the 2024 Euros which could well see the record amount smashed if the referees are strict.
