Full Spreadex Bookmaker Review
There are some sports that aren’t available here, and some sports that aren’t covered that well at all, so if those are the sports that you like betting on then this may not be for you. But the vast majority of sports have great market depth, and I really like Spreadex as a product.
Even if you don’t spread bet, Spreadex actually acts as quite a good reference point, or starting point, when looking at betting options. This is down to the ability to see comparative odds, from their incredible Stats Centre and live streaming (or simply telling you where to watch events). I can see people absolutely loving Spreadex.
Spreadex Review Summary
I’d heartily recommend Spreadex as an account that you should have in your betting arsenal for two main reasons: the sheer number of markets and the ability to get way more value through their spread betting service.
Advantages and Disadvantages
All explained in greater detail in this review, these pros and cons allow users to scan and understand where the strengths lie quickly.
Pros
No.1 spread betting site in the UK
Marketing-leading Stats Centre
Fixed odds, spread betting and financial trading
Cons
Some smaller sports are quite limited
Who are Spreadex?
Spreadex launched in 1999, becoming the first sportsbook to offer spread betting and fixed odds on the same platform. They consistently compete with Sporting Index to offer the best prices in the UK.
Established in 1999
Spreadex Ltd
UKGC licence number - 8835
First Impression of Spreadex
What is Spread Betting?
So, a ‘spread’ is a prediction within a specific market for a particular sports event. It is expressed in a SELL-BUY range. For example, the market could be Total Goals in a football match, with the spread set at 1.8 – 2.0. If you think the outcome will be higher than the set spread (so more than two goals scored), you would BUY. If you think less than 1.8 goals will be scored, then you would SELL. The crucial difference in sports spread betting, as opposed to fixed odds betting, is that the more you are right, the more you win. For more information, you can read our full guide on What Is Spread Betting here.
Spreadex Live Betting
There is so much here, and most of it is very good. You can head straight to their in-play section, and all the sports that currently have in-play markets are listed just below. At the time of review this was made up of football, tennis, cricket, basketball, golf and plenty more. You get a load of stats for each market, as well as the option to head to their Stats Centre and get even more. See if they make it into our best bookmakers for in-play betting.
Spreadex Live Streaming
Spreadex offers live streaming on some selected sports. This is mainly made up of horse racing, greyhound racing and tennis, although there are some selected football leagues shown, also. One nice touch is that even for markets that Spreadex doesn't stream, they will display where you can watch – Amazon, Sky etc. They also have a “Streaming” tab on their menu which is a brilliant way of letting people know what they can watch straight away.
Spreadex Betting Odds
Generally the odds, the fixed odds that is, are good. They’re not incredible, or market-leading, but they’re above average. What Spreadex has, compared to every other bookie, is the option to immediately flick over to their spread betting odds. Now these are literally among the best odds that you’ll get in the country. There is greater risk, and it’s possible to lose more than just a standard sake when you BUY and SELL, but the upside is significantly more.
Spreadex Betting App or Mobile Site
I love the Spreadex app. It does that brilliant thing that you want app to do that is close enough to the desktop version that it feels familiar, but has different features that make it work in a slick and sophisticated way. I probably prefer the layout of the platform on the app, and I really like the Top Tournaments – trending competitions regardless of the sport – that runs along the top. Right now there is the Six Nations, AFCON, Super Bowl, LIV and upcoming NBA games. See how it compares to the best betting apps in the UK.
Spreadex Football Betting
Spreadex nearly makes our best football betting sites in the UK – they just miss out. The menu panel across the top displays the different options in terms of competitions, but you can also filter games that are being live streamed through the Spreadex platform. There are a tonne of leagues around the world included, although you won’t get as many markets per game as you do with some other bookies.
Bet Builder
There is a bet builder at Spreadex, and it’s okay, but it’s fairly limited. So, as is the case with a fair amount of markets at Spreadex, the options aren’t huge – probably around half what you would get at other bookies – which limits what you can bet on. The flipside is that you can get a spread on their bet builder and get way more value than other places.
Bonuses
This is the most limited part of Spreadex’s product. There is a welcome bonus to take advantage of, but beyond that the only thing I can find is an odds boost on accas, called “Playboost”. You can boost your acca up to 75%, but this depends on how many legs you have in your acca. The boost is pretty low at four legs, but it climbs with every leg that you add.
Cash Out
Cashout is a very important betting feature for punters these days so it's crucial that bookies integrate this feature into their mobile betting apps. Spreadex has done this well, allowing their customers to instantly cash out their bets on any device they like.
Spreadex Horse Racing
The horse racing section at Spreadex is pretty good. There’s a few promotions, but no Best Odds Guaranteed (BOG). There are three main features to do with their horse racing that are worth knowing about. There’s First Past The Post, 2nd To A Rag (which give you your money back if your horse is second to a 33/1 or greater winner) and Lucky Double Odds. This last one immediately doubles your odds for any Lucky 15, Lucky 31 and Lucky 63 bets made. See how they compare to our top 10 best betting sites for BOG.
Spreadex US Sports Betting
A full range of American Sports is available. We’ll check out the major leagues, but also look into the sports further down the pyramid and, as well as across the globe.
American Football Betting
Spreadex lists the spread from the off (not the same as spread betting, but the points spread that you get with American sports), and lots of UK bookies don’t, so that’s a big feather in their cap. There are loads of markets, including player props that you may not find elsewhere. It’s worth checking out our best NFL betting sites to see how Spreadex compares.
Basketball Betting
This is just about okay. Aside from the odds that you can get, there is a real limited amount of markets which is unfortunate. The stats are great, the odds are great, but there’s only so much to bet on per game. See how it compares to the best basketball betting sites according to OLBG.
Baseball Betting
This is one of the top baseball betting sites in the country. Unsurprisingly, Spreadex’s stats offering is excellent. Click on the small bar chart icon of a game’s market and you’ll get a pop-up laden with stats regarding the head-to-head match up. There are no baseball promotions – the Spreadex baseball section appears all business, with little in the way of bells and whistles – but the odds are great, and there are markets for the MLB, Japanese NPB and the Korean KBO.
for more info.
Ice Hockey Betting
The NHL takes up the majority of real estate here, as one would expect. Generally, most other sportsbooks list a good many other leagues around the world, but there is definitely less here. Right now there is the Euro Hockey Tour, plus games in Finland and Kazakhstan, but you’ll find potentially 10 or more other global leagues elsewhere. The number of markets per game is fine, but it’s not incredible.
Spreadex Greyhound Betting
Spreadex has a really good greyhound section, with all UK and Irish meets listed, plus those running in Australia, also. This gives punters plenty of options and, as mentioned, you can live stream a lot of these races, even the Australian ones. The downside is that there is no Best Odds Guaranteed, which stops it making our best greyhound betting sites.
Spreadex Darts Betting
By Matt Edgar, professional darts player – Compared to the very darts betting sites in the country, Spreadex has some strengths and weaknesses. The number of markets for some upcoming Premier League matches is mightily impressive, with an absolute tonne of things to choose between. That said, there are some competitions missing here. I’d expect to see some Modus Series games listed, but they’re not here.
Spreadex Snooker Betting
By Steve Madgwick - As with the best snooker betting sites, there are markets for a couple of different competitions, including the World Championships and the Champions League. At the time of the review we’re in the middle of the latter, which I can’t live stream unfortunately, but I do like the amount of markets per match up that are on offer here, and generally the odds are pretty good.
Spreadex Rugby Betting (Union & League)
By Luke Bradshaw Lee - This makes it into OLBG’s best Rugby betting sites. The go-to for spread bettors looking for rugby betting, Spreadex’s brilliant fixed-odds sportsbook gives punters great variety. The app and website may take a bit of getting used to, but once you’re familiar you’ll find a huge array of markets (more than most), including plenty of women’s rugby matches. Make sure you also take advantage of their generous welcome offers.

Spreadex Cricket Betting
By James Banting - At the time I reviewed Spreadex’s tennis section there was a nice amount of competitions featured. If there were anything in the way of cricket promotions, or if the odds were a little better for their fixed odds, I could see Spreadex being one of our Top 10 cricket betting sites. Overall, it’s pretty nice because Spreadex offers all the competitions that I’d expect to see, plus a few more on top of that – not everywhere covers the Oman D10 League, for example. And I do love how many markets are available here for each game, but the value here is just okay unless you spread bet.
Spreadex Tennis Betting
By James Banting - Spreadex’s tennis section features plenty of competitions. These games obviously cover the globe, Grand Slams right down to smaller Challenger events. The odds are fine, but there’s plenty of markets, including in-play markets. There is some live streaming, and the stats that they feature are excellent. See if they make it into the top 10 tennis betting sites on OLBG.
Spreadex Golf Betting
By James Banting - This is very good from Spreadex. There are markets for the majors and the Ryder Cup, but there are loads of other less high profile tournaments featured. The majors sit at the bottom (based on the fact there are more time-sensitive, upcoming events coming up), with the Cape Town Open, Kenya Ladies Open, Webex Sydney and a few others all listed here. The Phoenix Open alone has over 100 markets available.
Spreadex Motorsports Betting
By Andy Powell - The motor sports section on Spreadex is very limited. There are just two outright markets for the next Formula 1 championship, constructor’s championship and driver’s championship, and that’s it. We may be out of season but I’d like to see more. There is nothing in the way of Indy, NASCAR, Speedway, MotoGP so perhaps not somewhere motorsports fans will come.
Spreadex Boxing Betting
By Frank Monkhouse former professional boxer - There’s some upcoming boxing bouts to get stuck into here, but not loads – eight to be exact. Two of those, the two biggest have 40+ markets per bout, but all the others have four or less. Having more markets for bigger fights is completely normal, but I’d still like a few more for the smaller ones, and definitely more upcoming flights listed.
Other Sports Betting
Whilst these sports might sound very niche, there is a massive market for fans, and millions of them in the UK, so good coverage of niche sports and events is key to be reviewed on OLBG.
Other Sports at Spreadex 🌍🏀🏐🚴🎮
Spreadex offers diverse betting options: handball 🏆, volleyball 🏐, cycling 🚴, Aussie rules 🏉, and esports 🎮. Explore global matches, detailed stats, and infinite markets.
Spreadex offers extensive betting options for Handball, volleyball, cycling, AFL betting, and esports. Handball includes global competitions; volleyball, covers European Championships and various tournaments; cycling features future tours and current races; AFL betting has comprehensive stats and esports offers all major games like League of Legends and CS:GO.
Political Betting
By Nigel Skinner - This is basically split into US and UK politics, with nothing from elsewhere around the globe. That said, the markets offered within that are pretty good, with nine markets for the next General Election, plus odds on the next Conservative and Labour leaders. It’s a similar story for the betting across the pond. This is pretty good overall, so check if it makes it into our best political betting sites.
Entertainment and Specials Betting
By Jake Ashton - This isn’t great from Spreadex, with just Eurovision and BBC Sports Personality of the Year listed. There aren’t any other domestic reality shows and nothing in the way of major US awards ceremonies such as the Emmys, Grammys or Oscars. I can’t see many specials bettors sticking here to be honest.
Casino
Spreadex does have casino. Despite the name of the brand, it's incredibly easy to find their casino offering from their sportsbook, with banners across the top. They also have some bonuses and offers that lead to casino spins should you win sportsbook bets. Check our Casino Sites page for dedicated new online casinos and slot sites.
Spreadex Account Opening Process
A reassuringly easy process. At the top-right of the screen Spreadex has their “Join” button. Bettors just need to select this and follow the simple steps as guided through. You’ll be asked for the usual information – name, date of birth, address etc – and once complete be sent a verification email. Clicking this from your inbox will redirect you to the site, and then you’re free to get betting.
Navigation and user experience [desktop v mobile]
I mentioned earlier that Spreadex has a great app – the more I used Spreadex, the more I found myself going to the app. If you’ve never done spread betting before things may be a little confusing, and the ability to flick between this and fixed odds obviously isn’t something that you can do on most other bookies sites or apps. Spreadex does a very good job of making what is a great deal of detail digestible, and I think it works even better on the app. The styling is a little dated but kind of fits in with the business-like tone of Spreadex.
Placing a bet
This section should only really highlight if there are issues, as the process is almost identical on every site. Within a few minutes of signing up to Spreadex I placed a couple of bets on different sports, one of which took advantage of the welcome offer, and I used their bet builder feature, which worked well.
Managing your account
As mentioned above, the design really helps this along. On the desktop version, it’s stuff to the left of the screen. On the app, it’s all at the bottom, with just the login at the top. I haven’t experienced any issues logging in, or finding customer service options, either. Overall, it feels like Spreadex has got this part nailed.
Spreadex Responsible Gambling Features
As with all online betting companies, responsible gambling should be and will be an essential element of the service provided.
Expect KYC procedures and document supply as a matter-of-course, to confirm your account after you have deposited a certain level of funds and in the event of any large wins.
You can set limits for yourself across depositing options and daily staking options too, so you can set your levels and keep control of your gambling.
Expect Spreadex to contact you via your preferred communication method if there are suspicious activities on your account. This protects your account from being accessed by someone other than you and ensures you control your gambling activity. Spreadex have a legal obligation to question your activity if they believe it to be suspicious.

“A must to get the best prices”
Have both main spread bet companies accounts and wouldn't be without either. Its my preferred form of betting because like taking their traders on, and making them squirm. Especially like the in play options, when a team goes behind and they over react and make the underdogs a real value price. It happens on loads of games, as soon as they equalise you can profit, you may not always win but the upside is great. Need to be on the ball and follow the match, but if astute can profit. Hoping the World Cup is a goldmine for my spread betting.
“Spreadex Sport: Where Betting Meets Versatility”
Spreadex Sport stands out as a versatile platform for sports betting. With an easy-to-use interface and a wide range of sports and markets, it caters to bettors of all kinds. What sets it apart is its unique spread betting options, adding an exciting twist to traditional sports wagering. Whether you're an experienced bettor or just starting out, Spreadex Sport offers a dynamic and engaging betting experience worth exploring.
“Fixed odds and spread betting all in one place”
Spredex has the unique selling point of being able to offer both fixed odds betting and spread betting in the one place. They also offer the chance for customers to watch a wide variety of sports whether a bet has been placed on that event or not. Extremely quick payout of winning bets, often in seconds, gives Spredex an advantage over many of its rivals.
“One of My Better Betting Experiences.”
I'm a relatively new customer of SpreadEx but my experience with them so far has been mainly positive. There are better new customer welcome offers available with other sites and I would maybe have given SpreadEx a higher rating if they offered a better deal for new customers but other than that I have no real complaints. The desktop site took a little bit of getting used to but that isn't a major issue. The most important aspect as a betting customer is withdrawing your winnings. Unlike with some other bookies, I had absolutely no issue withdrawing my winnings from SpraedEx. The transaction could possibly be processed a little bit quicker, as some bookies do it almost instantly, but the funds were back in my bank account within a couple of days so that's not a problem either. I've had one occasion of dealing with their customer service and they were brilliant too. I've rated them 4 stars. They didn't get the fifth, not because they've done anything wrong but simply because other bookies do a few things slightly better. I'm a satisfied SpreadEx customer.
“Great alternative, worth a try”
Some really fun markets in here, like betting on the sum of shirt numbers of goalscorers in a football match. You can even buy scrabble points where the score is made up by the letters in the goalscorers names. Along with these, you can buy all the normal things like goals, cards, corners and so on. Would advise small stakes to begin with if you're new to spread betting as it's all about how right or wrong you are, not just if you're right or wrong. Definitely worth a try!
“Easy to Use”
Theres not a lot of choice when it comes to Spread betting but Spreadex is the one I use. The site and app wouldn't be as slick as some of the best regular bookies but its well designed and functional and there are a wide range of exotic markets each with clear detailed explanations of how they are settled which is probably one of the most important factors if you are spread betting !
“Solid but unspectacular sportsbook”
Have only used their sports betting service (spread betting isn't my thing). Odds only around average, but easy account verification and quick withdrawals.

“Issue With A Free Bet Offer”
I opened an account with Spreadex after I got an email from OLBG offering £25 free bet with no deposit required. I followed the link and registered but there was no free bet in my account. I looked into placing a single and an accumulator but it still didn’t appear. I called them and they were aware f the issue and offered me the chance to place it over the phone but I’d only be able to place a single bet which was different from the email I received. I queried this and they confined in an email that I’d be able to place a multiple bet over the phone. I called the number they provided and I was told they were closed! All in all not a very positive experience. They were quick in coming back to me but it doesn’t matter how quick you are if the incorrect information is given. I was going to use it for the fixed betting and I appreciate it’s a site where you can use spread betting. I was a bit put off at the start when of setting it up when I was being asked abog my salary etc.
“Not too bad, but there are other spread betting companies out there”
I would state that SpreadEX is ok, but in my opinion there are better spread betting companies and websites to use out there
“”
“I'm not a customer”
I'm not a customer on SpreadEx, as I'm not into spread betting, I understand that on the site, one can be a bookmaker as well as a punter, therefore big monies can be lost if one makes a mistake. Not for me.
