The Turkish 1 Lig is the second tier of football in Turkey, the season runs from August through to May with eighteen teams competing.
Teams play each other once home and away so each play thirty-four matches during the regular season.
The top two teams at the end of the season are promoted to the Turkish Super Lig. The bottom three teams are relegated to Turkey 2 Lig.
Teams finishing 3rd to 6th play in two-legged playoffs (home and away), 3rd plays 6th and 4th plays 5th and the winners will play for a place in the Turkish Super Lig the following season.
