However, we would recommend reading through this full Mr play review before clicking the banner and signing up, just so you know what else is on offer and if Mr Play can provide you with everything you need from your next online betting site account.

PROS & CONS of mr.play Online Betting Site

The below is all explained in finer detail later in this review, but these quick pros and cons give users an instant understanding of where mr.play’ strengths lie.

👍 PROS

📝 Amazing market depth across multiple sports

📊 Good in-play statistics

🤽 Great coverage of niche sports

👎 CONS

💰Lack of promotions

Who Are mr.play?

Having launched in 2017, mr.play has established itself within sports betting, building a reputation as a solid sportsbook option and providing competition to some of the big players in the market. It’s an AG Communications brand, so there is plenty of experience behind it.

First Impression of mr.play

By Luke Bradshaw Lee - This review will reflect the service offered at the time of writing. I signed up on the desktop version of mr.play, but also used the mobile version to compare, as well as downloading the mr.play app.

You could be forgiven, thanks to the name, that everything at mr.play is very jovial, but the presentation is quite data-driven, even the font feels very business-like. Once you’ve selected “Sports” at the very top menu, you’ll immediately be taken to all the in-play markets. The menu down the side immediately conveys just how many sports, competitions and events are covered here. I also really like the slider on the menu bar to move from different time frames: today, three days, this week etc.

mr.play Live Betting

There’s so much here, and most of it is very likeable. As mentioned above, the in-play markets are where you’re directed to from the off, something that is fairly standard across most sportsbooks and you can navigate from there. There are some sports not featured here, snooker for example, which does suggest that the coverage isn’t quite as broad as I first thought, but there’s three different esports covered, which is refreshing to see. See if they make it into our best bookmakers for in-play betting.

Mr Play in play betting page

mr.play Live Streaming

mr.play doesn’t offer any live streaming at the time of this review.

mr.play Betting Odds

After looking at some other bookmakers, plus going through some comparison sites such as OddsChecker and the like, it seems as though that the odds offered at mr.play are pretty good. We checked football, basketball and tennis for in-play odds, plus horse racing and some other sports for pre-match and ante post odds. They’re generally pretty competitive and, as a result of covering sports like floorball and bandy, will have odds on events that other bookies simply don’t cover at all.

mr.play Betting App or Mobile Site

Straight off the bat there are a couple of things that I love about the mr.play app. The on/off switch at the top between casino and sports is such a simple concept and yet I’ve never seen it before. Also, above the main sports menu is an additional menu bar (I can’t see anything like this on desktop) of news-relevant tournaments. So right now there is the Super Bowl, the Six Nations, AFCON, the Premier League and a few others. There’s no separation of sports, just the most relevant right now, and I assume this updates automatically. It’s a great little feature.

mr.play Football Betting

Mr.play doesn’t quite make our best football betting sites in the UK, but they’re not far off to be honest. The menu panel is telling me that there’s 1143 different games that I can bet on at this moment in time, and that’ll compete with anyone. Beyond that, you can’t argue with the market depth, which is mighty impressive.

Bet Builder

There’s a bet builder option at mr.play, and it’s okay, but could be a little better to be honest. I’d say it’s about average, and would definitely be improved if there were some more markets to add into our bet builders. That said, they may increase the closer we get to kick-off.

Mr Play bet builder page

Bonuses

This is pretty limited. There is a welcome bonus to take advantage of, but beyond that the only thing I can find is an odds boost on accas, called “Playboost”. If you place an acca with four legs or more at odds of more than 1.5 your wins will be boosted by up 77%. That’s a huge boost, bigger than most, but it’s actually broken down by the number of legs. A four leg acca is boosted by 4%, and it climbs until a 15-fold acca at 17%.

Cash Out

Cashout is a very important betting feature for punters these days so it's crucial that bookies integrate this feature into their mobile betting apps. mr.play have done this well, allowing their customers to instantly cash out their bets on any device they like.

mr.play Horse Racing

The horse racing section at mr.play is okay. There’s not much in the way of promotions, and not all meets are listed. For example, today there are three meets on in the UK (Market Rasen, Taunton and Wolverhampton), but only two are listed here, which does seem a bit odd. The actual odds are pretty good, but there’s no BOG (Best Odds Guaranteed), which is a bit of a let down. See how they compare to our top 10 best betting sites for BOG.

mr.play US Sports Betting

A full range of American Sports is available. We’ll check out the major leagues, but also look into the sports further down the pyramid and, as well as across the globe.

American Football Betting

Unfortunately, mr.play does something that is a real bugbear of mine when it comes to American sports, well certainly American football and basketball. When you see the event (a specific game) it only lists the winner and total. This is better than just displaying the result market, which some do, but what it really should show is three markets: spread, total and moneyline (result). You can see these once you click through, but it’s not how bettors on these sports bet.

That said, there are an absolute tonne of markets here, including next season’s outrights and NFL Draft markets, which is great to have. It’s worth checking out our best NFL betting sites to see how mr.play compares.

Basketball Betting

I think mr.play has a great selection of basketball leagues to bet on. There’s obviously the NBA, but mr.play covers a wide range of EuroLeague and domestic world competitions, including competitions in Lebanon, Lithuania, South Korea and Brazil, among others. There are also plenty of markets per game, with game, team and player markets covered really nicely.

Mr Play basketball betting page

Baseball Betting

mr.play obviously covers the MLB, but they also have markets for the Japanese and South Korean leagues. The markets, and the odds, especially on the outrights, look really good. The MLB season hasn’t quite kicked off, but there is a healthy amount of things to bet on, such as individual awards and the like. Keep tabs on the top baseball betting sites though, to see why they make it onto our list.

Ice Hockey Betting

The NHL takes up the bulk of space here, as expected. But there are also some Finnish, Swiss, and German fixtures included, among others. I selected an upcoming NHL game and there are loads of markets listed – more than pretty much anywhere else. For the smaller leagues that reduces a bit more, which is understandable. Overall, I think this is impressive from mr.play

mr.play Greyhound Betting

mr.play has a pretty standard greyhound section within its library. There’s the day’s meets, but also some ante post stuff. There isn’t a great deal beyond that, plus there is no live streaming or Best Odds Guaranteed, so it wouldn’t surprise me if greyhound fans looked elsewhere.

mr.play Darts Betting

By Matt Edgar, professional darts player – In terms of darts betting sites in the UK, mr.play has some strengths and weaknesses. The outrights on future events are great, but once you click through to the match ups, this then falls quite a bit down, and I can’t stack any bets within that. Maybe they increase the market number and variety closer to the time of the match, but I’d ideally like to see more from the off.

mr.play Snooker Betting

By Steve Madgwick - As with the best snooker betting sites, there are markets for a few different tournaments, including the World Championships and the Champions League. At the time of the review we’re in the middle of the Champions League, which I can’t live stream unfortunately, but I do like the amount of markets per game that they offer, and generally the odds are pretty good.

mr.play Rugby Betting (Union & League)

By Luke Bradshaw Lee - This has pretty much every competition – domestic and international – that you’d want to bet on here, which is fantastic. And that goes for rugby union and rugby league. If I were being super picky it would be great to see the Japanese league here, given how popular it is becoming, but that is nit-picking because overall, this is excellent event coverage. What lets it down, and seems at odds with other sports, is market depth per game isn’t great. In short, it’s wide, but not that deep. See how they compare to our best Rugby betting sites.

mr.play Cricket Betting

By James Banting - This is pretty nice because mr.play offers all the competitions that I’d expect to see, plus a few more on top of that – not everywhere covers the Oman D10 League, for example. I also love how many markets are available here for each game, assuming it’s not quite a bit in the future before teams are announced etc.

mr.play Tennis Betting

By James Banting - At the time I reviewed their tennis section, mr.play had 302 different tennis games to bet on – that’s mightily impressive. These games obviously cover the world, with the Grand Slams right down to smaller Challenger events. The odds are good, and there’s plenty of markets, but I’d like to see more in-play markets. There’s no live streaming, but the stats that feature are pretty good. See if they make it into the top 10 tennis betting sites on OLBG.

mr.play Golf Betting

By James Banting - mr.play’s golf offering is a little disappointing. There are only markets for the majors and the Ryder Cup, and those are just basic outrights. There are a few smaller tournaments on right now, or due to start soon, such as the Phoenix Open, Astara Championship or Commercial Bank Qatar Masters, and none of these are listed in any capacity. I’d like to see a good bit more for me to consider using them consistently.

mr.play Motorsports Betting

By Andy Powell - The motor sports here is fine. Everything is it’s own thing, rather than housed under a “motor sports” banner, but I can see Formula 1, obviously, on top of Speedway and Indy racing. There’s nothing in the way of bikes, such as MotoGP, or any NASCAR, which is a little annoying, but, that said,  I am impressed with the detail in the Formula 1 markets.

mr.play Boxing Betting

By Frank Monkhouse former professional boxer - There’s lots of boxing bouts to get stuck into here, and the markets look dependent on timings. Those this weekend and over the next few weeks have an okay offering, whereas the further away they get the less markets on offer. That’s understandable, and I wouldn’t expect to find round by round and the like for fights that are months away, but I would definitely like more options for big bouts this weekend, and that’s definitely limited based on my experience with mr.play.

mr.play Other Sports Betting

Whilst these sports might sound very niche, there is still a large enough market for fans, and millions of them in the UK, so good coverage of niche sports and events is key to be reviewed on OLBG; let’s dig in a bit further.

Handball Betting

Betting on handball at mr.play looks very impressive. There’s actually over 100 games to bet on at the time of review, and that’s way more than most bookies. There aren’t loads of markets per game, but the odds are great and there are competitions in Bahrain, Estonia, Iceland, Egypt and more listed. Handball is increasingly popular and mr.play looks to be struggling in terms of providing a platform for punters to bet on various handball events and tournaments worldwide.

Cycling Betting

mr.play offers betting on cycling for sports bettors who like to dabble in cycling betting, and comparing it with others out there it’s what we’d expect. There isn’t a load of markets, but that’s true of anywhere to be honest. What you can get is odds on next year’s Tour de France winner, plus the Classics like the Tour of Flanders, Paris-Roubaix and Milan-San Remo.

Aussie Rules Football Betting

As far as mr.play is concerned, their event coverage is pretty standard – they have most parts covered. The games, competitions and odds are good, but the actual list of markets isn’t huge per game. It’s not as great as some others out there, but overall they are still a solid option.

Political Betting

By Nigel Skinner - mr.play houses its political betting under “Specials”, along with entertainment. The political betting is fine, but a little limited. There are some US Presidential markets, understandably, and odds on the next Mayor of London, but it fizzles out after that. I’m surprised that there’s nothing in the way of the UK General Election, or next Prime Minister odds, but for US stuff it’s not bad.

Entertainment and Specials Betting

By Jake Ashton - This is okay from mr.play, with some music, award ceremonies and TV programmes covered. It’s tricky trying to work out what determines the offering because things like The Oscars and BAFTAs make sense, but Big Brother Brazil and Festival Di SanRemo seem a little out of place.

Esports Betting

This is not bad at all. Don’t expect to find an “Esports” option in the main menu, as all different games have their own navigation. THere’s a really good selection here, with Counter-Strike, Dota 2, League of Legends, Starcraft, Valorant and Call of Duty. Each game is represented well – there are nearly 100 markets for Valorant alone at the time of writing.

Mr Play esports betting page

Virtual Sports

mr.play offers no virtual sports betting at the time of this review.

Casino

mr.play does have casino. Despite the name of the brand, it's incredibly easy to find their casino offering from their sportsbook, with banners across the top. They also have some bonuses and offers that lead to casino spins should you win sportsbook bets. Check our Casino Sites page for dedicated new online casinos and slot sites.

mr.play Account Opening Process

A reassuringly easy process. At the top-right of the screen mr.play has their “Open Account” button. Bettors just need to select this and follow the simple steps as guided through. You’ll be asked for the usual information – name, date of birth, address etc – and once complete be sent a verification email. Clicking this from your inbox will redirect you to the site, and then you’re free to get betting.

Navigation and user experience [desktop v mobile]

I mentioned earlier the extra menu that you get on the app, with the trending tournaments, regardless of sport, and I found it very useful as I went away and came back to the app – it’s an excellent additional feature. Both the app and desktop version do a good job of organising what is actually a huge amount of sports and markets within those sports. I also love the “switch” at the top between casino and sportsbook. The menu that runs along the bottom of the app also has a “more” option to expand, which works really well.

Placing a bet

This section should only really highlight if there are issues, as the process is almost identical on every site. Within a few minutes of signing up to mr.play I placed a couple of bets on different sports, one of which took advantage of the welcome offer, and I used their bet builder feature, which was very good indeed.

Managing your account

As mentioned above, the design really helps this along. On the desktop version, it’s stuff to the  left of the screen. On the app, it’s all at the bottom, with just the login at the top. I haven’t experienced any issues logging in, or finding customer service options, either. Overall, it feels like mr.play has got this part nailed.

mr.play Responsible Gambling Features

As with all online betting companies, responsible gambling should be and will be an essential element of the service provided.

Expect KYC procedures and document supply as a matter-of-course, to confirm your account after you have deposited a certain level of funds and in the event of any large wins.

You can set limits for yourself across depositing options and daily staking options too, so you can set your levels and keep control of your gambling.

Expect Unibet to contact you via your preferred communication method if there are suspicious activities on your account. This protects your account from being accessed by someone other than you and ensures you control your gambling activity. Unibet have a legal obligation to question your activity if they believe it to be suspicious.

As part of Unibet's commitment to safer gambling, they aim to make zero revenue from harmful gambling by the end of 2023.

Opinion, research and data collection for this mr.play review by

mr.play Review Summary

You absolutely have to consider having an account with mr.play because there are simply markets here that you won’t find anywhere else, or at the very least, struggle to find anywhere else.

For most major sports (although there are some exceptions) there are way more markets than most other bookies, and there are niche sports here that aren’t covered by the majority of competitors such as bandy, chess, lacrosse, water polo and winter sports.

However, there is a real lack in terms of promotions and odds boosts, which mean that it may struggle to attract users in the first place. But if you do get there, there’s a very good chance that you’ll find what you’re after and end up loving it.
