  • The Super Bowl will take place on Sunday, February 12, 2023 at at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona.
  • The entire performance will be filmed, including behind-the-scenes footage for Rihanna's upcoming Apple TV+ documentary.
  • Rihanna's last album "Anti" was released in 2016. Her song "Love on the Brain" from that album has the third shortest odds to be the first song performed at halftime.

For millions of Americans, the Super Bowl is bigger than just a football game. The game, as was always intended by the NFL, has morphed into a full-blown event over the past 57 years. From Super Bowl Media Week to the commercials, which are sold by the network at an astronomical $233,000 per second, the Super Bowl is big business. Outside of the game itself, there isn't a bigger element of the Super Bowl than the halftime show. This year Rihanna will headline the halftime festivities and there is heavy speculation from sportsbooks about the first song she will perform.

Rihanna is the first solo female act at the Super Bowl since Lady Gaga took the field in 2017. This return to center stage for Rihanna comes after years away from the music scene. Her last album "Anti" was released all the way back in 2016 and she spent 2017 solely as as featured artist on singles from artists such as Future, DJ Khaled and Kendrick Lamar. Since then she has more on less been on an extended hiatus. This is what makes this particular prop bet so interesting to bettors. She doesn't have a hot new single to promote or any music that is front of mind for fans. That makes it conceivable that she could do in a number of directions with her choice for the first song at halftime.

Love On The Brain and Umbrella have both been streamed over one billion times on Spotify by fans over the years. But I'm going with Diamonds at +400 as my pick because of its popularity among sports producers, videographers, and social media creators since its debut in 2012.

Once the matchup is set between the two teams additional prop bets will flood the market including exotics like the color of the Gatorade bath for the winning coach and who the Super Bowl MVP will thank first (God, teammates, coach). Those markets will open a week or so before the big game is played on February 12th.
