Major League Baseball is well underway after an unprecedented league-wide lockout in March.

40 games into the season, the home run leader board has never been more competitive. With seven players tied for third place alone, what sets them apart is how much these heavy hitters are earning per blast.

To gain more insight, we have gathered data looking at the top 10 highest MLB earners per home run.

Check out the results below…

Data as of 05/25/2022

Mookie Betts ranked first on the list with a base salary of a whopping $39m after hitting 12 home runs this season.

The LA Dodgers’ right fielder has not only scored in 12 straight games but it is estimated that on average he earns $3.25m per home run. This is unsurprising as in the ninth consecutive LA triumph over Washington, Betts achieved two home runs out of four in a 9-4 triumph.

As the current National league leader this season, it is no wonder that the Dodgers have come to expect outstanding performances out of Betts.

Giancarlo Stanton and Jose Ramirez take second and third place on the list.

New York Yankees designated hitter Stanton has not only achieved 11 home runs this season but makes approximately $2.27m per home run, amounting to a base salary of $25m.

Though Stanton doesn’t lead the league in numbers he averages the hardest-hit homers in the major leagues with balls ripped at 115-plus mph. Ramirez ranks third on the list with a total of 11 home runs so far this season. Cleveland's all-star DH leads the league in RBIs, followed closely by fellow top sluggers; Alonso, Stanton, and Judge.

Speaking of the Bronx Bombers, surprisingly the man who sits at the top of league by a margin of five HR’s is ranked fourth on the list.

Don’t let that fool you, his rookie salary is no match for the number of balls he’s sent flying over outfielder’s heads so far this season. Interestingly, the New York Yankees player only earns $1m on average which amounts to approximately $17m.

So far he is proving himself as the best major hitter in the league this season, but his salary doesn’t reflect compared to the other three who top the list.
