That being said, Scott Williams comes alive on this stage, and I think he will impose himself well on this game. He will be pushed, and it will go close, but I think Scott will have too much for Niko here, especially on the doubles, as Williams is the 5th best finisher in the event.

Martin Lukeman recently made the final of the Grand Slam of Darts and has had a much improved season on tour, more like he was a year ago. Lukeman comes into this well-practiced and well-prepared against a player who's yet to really land a blow on the big stage. Nitin is a long way off the levels of Lukeman, and I expect a simple 3-0 passing here for Martin.

It has been somewhat of a breakthrough year for Romeo, who has played very well across the various codes that have seen him get into the WDF World Masters, PDC Euro Tours, World Cup of Darts team, Challenge Tour events, and success on the Modus Super Series. However, although I think he can run Callan close and this game will have some tense moments, I do think Callan has shown some good signs in recent months, most notably on the Euro Tour, and could go on a run here that could replicate the big run of a few years ago when he reached the last 8.

One thing for sure here is Fallon Sherrock will have the crowd on her side. She is a popular player at the palace, and the possible clash with Luke Littler as well makes it very appealing. Ryan is the clear favorite and the better player of the two. However, he will be up against more than a player tonight, and Fallon sure does raise it on the big stage.

Possible upset here in this one. Pietreczko clearly has the experience, but that was gained from ranking he won last year. This season, he was unable to make the top 64 on the pro tour order of merit, which is a surprise for his talent. A seasonal average of 90 should be enough here, but Zong can and will be a tricky customer for him. I do suspect the crowd could also play a factor here, and the price is just far too big here to not have a value play.

Keane Barry has never really produced the levels we know he can on the World Championship stage and has lost at this stage to some surprising players, most notably the 2023 upset vs Grant Sampson. He did pick up a first-round win last year before failing to land a blow on MVG in round 2, and this is one of the tricky clashes of the round. Barry is not here as a Pro Tour player after failing to make the top 32 on that order of merit. He is here as a Dev Tour player taking on a very experienced Kim Huybrechts, who I think is good value here.

Although Tricole is a big favorite here and is starting to gain a lot of big stage experience, including a big win recently over Price at the PCF, I think there is value here in Joe to take a set, especially if he wins the bull. Joe is an improving player with his last 3-month average around 86. That being said, he will need to find more to worry Tricole. However, he will get chances if he plays to his seasonal data, and I think Tricole is far too skinny of a price here in the opening game, which brings with it its own nerves.
