Cameron Young has played well around here the last couple of years, and it would be no shock to see him go well again. He finished T9 last year and T7 in 2023, where a bad third round of 75 put paid to his chances. At 125/1, he looks a decent bet each way.

Hideki Matsuyama won around here in 2021 and Scottie Scheffler is the only player ranked better in the world at the current time. He set a PGA Tour scoring record in winning the Sentry back in January and he could go well again at 33/1.

Ludvig Aberg finished second last year and he could go very well again this time. A poor first round meant he was always playing catch up with Scheffler and if he gets off to a decent start this time around he will be very dangerous indeed.

Having already won the Masters twice in 2022 and 2024 and also being world number one, it's easy to think Scottie Scheffler will be in contention to win here again. He doesn't really represent much value, but I expect him to be in with a shout come Sunday, and then his odds could look far better value.

Joaquin Niemann has had decent starts here for the last couple of years. He's had a couple of wins on the LIV tour in the last two months so comes here in good form. He looks a decent each way bet for both the first round leader and the overall winner.

But for a poor first round last year, Ludvig Aberg could well have won the Green Jacket. He started last year 7 strokes worse than overall winner Scottie Scheffler. He played well afterwards, shooting 69, 70, and 69 in the other three rounds. It would be of no surprise to see him post a better opening round this time.

Max Homa shot an opening round 67 last year. While the run-up to this year's event has been interesting, to say the least, he has the game to go well around Augusta. At 100/1 to be first-round leader and six places on offer, it looks like a decent each-way bet.

Victor Hovland shot a seven under par first round in 2023 in what was a three-way tie for the lead after the first day. He has the game to play well around here and he's another player that it would be no surprise to see up near the top of the leaderboard after day 1.

Archivist has been a shade unfortunate to run into three decent animals on his last three runs where he's finished second each time. He was second to Starzintheireyes who went on to win a group 3 next time. He was then second to Seaplane who went on to run a good fourth in the group 1 Futurity next time out. The last time we saw him run he finished second (9 lengths clear of the rest) to Smoken who won a listed event next time out. William Haggas may well have recruited a very good colt from the retired Michael Stoute stable.
