Remarkable high mileage gelding who has been chasing since the age of 4 and keeping good company.Winner of 3 marathons last season 2 close together and good jockey gets on well,has a light weight and creeps in at the bottom.14/1 taken so the current 12/1 isn't great,would not want any more rain.A win would be a great boost to the trainers family-every national winner has a story-fingers crossed

22/1 is a great price,having taken 14/1.I admit i'm hoping all 8 run,has to give weight to some high quality mares.The fav. was nicely produced to win at cheltenham but looks a work in proggress,a bit weak.Lump sum will relish the ground,comes here a fresh horse,will like a flat track,and has sustained finishing speed,jockey knows him well.After all that theres the big question of class to answer for this grade 2 winner -factored into the price

Hurdles mark a bit lower than chase which would be useful in this quality renewal,can be hard to win with and a small e.w. bet at 11/1 made.Many fingers were burned at a short price latest and 11/1 is just ok,a small bet allows a top up at a better price.Jockey gets on well with him and the race has a good history to referance and unlucky horses have figured.Bottom 2 horses also got my e.w. money-7 places sky bet

Walked home after winning a fast run 2m1/2 grade 1 novice chase at cheltenham at the age of 7,where Galopin des champs fell at the last,and thereafter had that burnt out look.Revitalised this season,well ridden, and saved for this race .In many runs never out of the 1st 2 at around 2m1/2,should handle the ground.It was different going but his time was 5 sec. faster than Impaire et passe,in the grade 1 novice hurdle at cheltenham a race they both won.Younger Impaire could well bounce back in this but there are just too many questions to answer

The betting says its a 3 horse race,official ratings suggest a 2 horse race,7 run ofcourse .Henderson still has to prove he is back in full swing and soft to heavy ground would not be ideal for Shishkin.He did win at Newbury heavy to soft,a general description used but on the day that information lacked,the races were fast run and 3 min. 57 for the big 2m hurdle is a good example.Gerri coped well with the conditions in the Gold Cup and time wise theres not much between he and Shiskin on Aintree runs,and both are lightly raced.13/8 priced assumes too much of the opposition and too little of Gerri Colombe

Not a strong looking grade 1 and while current official ratings may flatter he looks the horse with the most potential .Stable has had a few winners from march + but the strike rate is below what i would expect,it remains a concern.Dodged cheltenham has won on heavy- a fresh horse,yet to see a rival.Kalif du Berlais is fast,gave weight last 2 wins,well ridden latest,had to fight hard-his official rating is not kind and suggests he's not good enough

The form horse at chelltenham and entitled to win , i just had doubts that the track would not suit.Aintree looks ideal being flat-scooted round haydock to win earlier in the season.Going should suit and has won over 3m.Looks the winner bar a fall
