20:00 Liverpool v PSG

PSG

Liverpool hold a slender advantage after the first leg where they scored a late goal in a real smash-and-grab Liverpool performance. In that game, PSG had far more of the ball, created far more chances, and then succumbed to a goal scored in the eighty-seventh minute. PSG have won their last ten away games, and if they again dominate possession, I cannot see them being so wasteful of the chances that will come their way.
19:45 Derby v Coventry

Coventry

Coventry are currently in a promotion play-off spot whilst Derby are in the relegation zone. Coventry have won their last four away games, with all those teams occupying a higher position in the table than Derby.
19:45 Grimsby v Notts County

Grimsby

A win for Grimsby will move them above Notts County and into the top six. They have taken seven points from their last three home games compared with Notts County, who have only taken one point from their last three away games.
19:45 Norwich v Sheff Wed

Norwich

Norwich are currently one point ahead of Sheffield Wednesday in the table and knocking on the door of a top six position. They really need the three points from this game to stop the gap to a top six place growing anymore. Norwich have won the last couple of times they have welcomed Sheffield Wednesday.

The Olly Murphy-trained Resplendent Grey is dropped a pound since his last race and reverts to a race in excess of three miles. Twice this season he has run over three miles, and each time he has finished second. One of those was at Cheltenham in November last year. This will be the furthest distance he has raced, so providing there are no stamina issues, then every chance of a top-five finish.

Constitution Hill

Daily Racing

Since moving to the Nicky Henderson yard, Constitution Hill has raced ten times and won them all, including the Champion Hurdle two years ago. He has been nursed back to health by Henderson and his team and is very hopeful that Constitution Hill will remain a bright light for the English against the invading Irish. His two runs back suggest he is as good as ever, and providing no jumping errors, the reception he will get for regaining his crown will be worth listening to.

Willie Mullins and his team have played the safe option for Lossiemouth by switching her to this race following the confirmed participation of Constitution Hill in the Champion Hurdle. Lossiemouth won this race last year, and providing her fall at Leopardstown does not affect her jumping ability, she has every chance of retaining her crown. On ratings, she is rated nine pounds clear of her nearest rival.

If The Changing Man arrives in the same form that he showed when bolting up in the Reynoldstown at Ascot last month then every chance he can defy the two pound rise in the ratings. A chance is taken that of the first day odds-on favourites, Majborough will prove to be the weakest link. Last year's Triumph winner has not looked as solid a jumper as Leau Du Sud. The Skeltons are having a tremendous season, with Dan Skelton currently leading the trainers' championship and his brother in second place in the Jockeys' table. Leau Du Sud is four from four over the larger obstacles, including a course and distance win here at Cheltenham.

The Willie Mullins-trained Kopek Des Bordes has raced three times and won them all. His latest success was an impressive display in a Grade One race at Leopardstown. Earlier in the season, the Gordon Elliott-trained Romeo Coolio headed the market for this race. He couldn't have been more impressive when winning his opening hurdle race at Down Royal. He was then a little disappointing at Fairyhouse before bouncing back to form in a Grade One race at Leopardstown. If there are weaknesses in Kopek Des Bordes, then every chance it will be Romeo Coolio who benefits.

West Ham have made an encouraging start with Graham Potter in charge. With wins at Arsenal and at home against Leicester, West Ham have a decent chance, especially with Newcastle losing their last two away games.

19:45 Juventus v Atalanta

Juventus

These two teams are currently third and fourth in the table, having each played twenty-seven games. A win for the home side would move them level on points with Atalanta. Juventus have won their last two home league games, which have both been low-scoring affairs, with the home team keeping a clean sheet in both games. The last three meetings between these two teams have all finished in a draw. However, with the recent home form and defensive record of Juventus, I expect them to collect all three points.

17:00 Empoli v Roma

Roma

Roma are pushing for a top-six place, whilst Empoli are struggling to get themselves out of the relegation zone. In all competitions, Roma have won their last five games. Empoli have only taken one point from their last six home games. With Roma winning at Parma in their last away game, I am taking them to do the same at Empoli.
16:30 Man Utd v Arsenal

Man Utd

Having dropped points in their last game against Nottingham Forest, Arsenal find themselves thirteen points behind Liverpool. Even though they have a game in hand, this chasm is looking mighty big, and maybe the players feel that it is now too wide. They appeared to run out of ideas against Forest, and even though Arsenal had plenty of the ball, they created very little. Manchester United showed grit and determination to come from behind to beat Ipswich, even though they played the second half with ten men. Manchester United will probably be the more motivated of the two teams as they find themselves in the bottom half of the table. If showing that same determination as they did in their last game, then they could very well put another large dent in Arsenal's faltering title challenge.

Leicester continue to struggle and have their work cut out to move away from the relegation zone and remain in the Premiership for next season. With Man City losing against Nottingham Forest, a win for Chelsea will see them move above City into the top four. The last four meetings between these two sides have all been won by Chelsea.
14:00 Tottenham v Bournemouth

Bournemouth

At the time of writing, Tottenham have won their last three Premiership games, which were all against teams lower in the table than Bournemouth. Bournemouth are higher in the table and with two consecutive away wins in the Premiership at Newcastle and Southampton, taking them to get all three points and maintain their challenge for a top-six finish.
08 March 2025
20:00 Wolverhampton v Everton

Everton

At the time of writing, Everton have won their last two away games. They were against Crighton and Crystal Palace. Both those teams are higher in the table than Wolves. David Mayes has rejuvenated Everton since his arrival. I expect that to continue with another three points against Wolves, who have lost two of their last three home games.

12:30 Nottm Forest v Man City

Nottm Forest

I am writing this before Nottingham Forest play their midweek game against Arsenal. As it stands, they are one place and three points above Manchester City in the Premiership. They have taken sixteen points from their last six home Premiership games. The only points they dropped were when they drew with Liverpool. With the current away form of Manchester City, every chance Forest can collect all three points.
12:30 Watford v Millwall

Watford

With Norwich dropping points last night, a win for Watford would move them back above Norwich in the table. Earlier in the season, when they traveled to Millwall, Watford came away with all three points. They broke their losing streak at home with a win against Luton in their last home match, so I'm taking them to press on from that and gain another home win.

17:45 Fenerbahce v Rangers

Rangers

At the end of the first phase, Rangers finished in the last spot to go straight into this stage of the competition, whilst Fenerbahce took the last remaining spot and then won a two-legged tie against Anderlecht to reach this stage. Although Rangers have had a change of manager and have struggled of late in the Scottish Premiership, if they can play as they have been doing in the Europa League, then there's every chance of a win.
17:45 Real Sociedad v Man Utd

Man Utd

After the first phase of matches, which required each team to play eight games, Manchester United finished third in the table on eighteen points, whilst Real Sociedad finished down in thirteenth place. In order to get to this stage, Real Sociedad played Midtjylland over two legs and won both legs. In the home leg, Real Sociedad conceded two goals. In their last two league games, Real Sociedad have failed to find the back of the net. These last met in 2022, and I am going for history to repeat itself with a win by Man United without conceding a goal. Three times Man United have travelled to Real Sociedad, coming away with two wins and one draw, all without conceding a goal.

Burnley

The last time Burnley lost away from home was in the early part of November last year. A win tonight will keep them firmly in the hunt for an end-of-season automatic promotion spot. With Cardiff just outside the relegation zone, taking Burnley to collect all three points.
