Well, we know he's trained on, and we know he likes the AW. The win last time at Nottingham hinted he is still on the upgrade, having fought off challengers to eventually win with reasonable comfort. The trainer historically does well at this time of year with his AW runners, and this is his only AW runner today.

Won this last year off just 4lb higher. Has been highly tried throughout the year on ground softer than ideal. Three of his five wins have come on ground with 'good' in the description. Ran a cracker in the Grand National. Hopefully, the 4-week break is enough for him to show his best again this afternoon in a race that would almost clinch the trainer's championship for Mullins if he was to win.

His last 4 runs have been really solid, with his last two in 56K and 36K races being his standout runs of the year. Down 1lb for those runs, and this looks like a much easier contest. Handles Good/Soft and faster, and this trip looks ideal. Last two wins have come off marks in the mid-130s, so today's mark of 129 offers a solid opportunity.

Was going well enough at Cheltenham when falling two out, might have been a little unlucky as the leader crossed him and may have just distracted him. That was his first try at this kind of trip and looked like he would stay it well. Softer ground should suit and claimer takes off 3lb to effectively make him 1lb lower than his Cheltenham run. The class horse of the race, who has solid form in Group and Listed races over 1m 4f, has been staying on in those races. So the step up in trip looks likely to suit. Ran some nice races in Group company last year. He split Inisherin and Vandeek in the Sandy Lane. That was over 6f but also has bits of form over 1m, and both his wins have come over 7f. A year older, so a longer trip is more likely to be within his compass, especially over this easy mile. Down to an effective mark of 92 today with a good claimer taking off 5lb. This is the first time he's been rated in double figures since winning the Horris Hill as a 2yo. Drawn in 4, which is apparently a disadvantage despite 2 of the last 4 winners being drawn 2 and 4, and the last time the race was run on this type of ground, 4 of the first 5 home were drawn 4-3-1-5. So even though this is higher than his last winning mark of 110, his current mark of 116 should offer some optimism. Unexposed 5-year-old having his first handicap run this afternoon. He's shown a fair level of form to date, finishing 2nd in a decent point where the winner is now rated in the 120s.
