Beat 3L by the now generously rated 134 Valgrand as a novice, which hints that his mark of 120 is fair. Upped in trip today, which should suit, as should the drying ground in terms of him getting the new trip.

Won this last year off 2lb lower and weighted to reverse placings with Lump Sum on their run earlier in the season. Slightly faster ground than last year, but that shouldn't be a problem. This has probably been the target on the way to a tilt at the County Hurdle or Aintree like last year. Short enough in a race of this nature, but no really obvious 'lurkers,' so see no reason why he shouldn't go close again.

Beat Brandt easily when they last met. Was getting 2 stone from that rival when running out of the handicap. It's the same today, but this horse could really be on the upgrade, especially on this type of ground. It followed the win up with a respectable effort on soft ground despite the trainer having reservations about the horse on soft. It looks like he was put away since waiting for the ground to change, and this is probably the first opportunity he's had getting his ground. Only 7 years old, and this step up in trip looks sure to suit. Money around this morning is another positive.

Won easier than the distance suggests last time. Travelled well and the jockey never really had to get at him despite hanging left. As a result, only went up 3lb. Lingfield should suit being a left-handed track and should still have loads to come having just its 5th run this afternoon. Trainer historically does well at this time of year, which is an added positive.

As the price suggests, this looks a certainty. The second favorite has been beaten a total of 102 lengths in its two hurdle races, and the third favorite 65 lengths. This looks like a two-horse race. The Williams charge is coming off a year off and has been well beaten in French chase races. The selection wasn't beaten far by a horse who went on to contest a Grade 2 last time, and the pair came well clear of the rest. Just beaten in a 3m PTP, so this extra trip on heavy ground shouldn't be an issue.

This one was beaten less than 2L by the now rated 145 Springwell Bay when last seen over hurdles. A former 3m PTP winner who has had mixed fortunes over the larger obstacles and now reverts back to hurdles for its handicap debut in this sphere. Mark of 122 looks fine when you consider he beat Firestream by 6L as a novice, and that horse went close off 126 last week. This will be only his 4th run over hurdles, so he should still have improvement in him. Wedge rides, can go well at a double-figure price.

I'll take a chance on the Easterby charge back at the CD where he had his last success. That was off an effective mark of 94. Today he runs off an effective 91. When you consider he followed the win with a second again over CD off 104, he could be well in today. A couple of poor runs in December, but those were over shorter. Better ground today. This one is a big price in a race that wouldn't take too much winning.

Wasn't beaten far by some good horses in his bumpers (Lookaway, Chianti Classico). He has had issues with his wind and was off the track for nearly 2 years prior to his handicap debut in December. That was a really encouraging run. He got tired late, which is hardly surprising considering his time off the track. If he can get anywhere near his bumper form, he could make a mockery of his 100 mark. Cobden takes over today, which is another positive.

From the connections that brought you the winner of yesterday's race. This time last year this one was GB's leading hope in the Supreme at Cheltenham. He was pulled up that day, but at the time the trainer had issues with a lot of his runners. He was tried unsuccessfully over a fence before a more promising run over hurdles last time when looking a little one-paced. Upped significantly in trip today, which could be the making of him. If he does stay, he has the class to take this on the way to a tilt at the Pertemps at the festival.
