A beaten favourite next time out but quite possible that run came too soon just six days after the win. 4yo filly by 2018 2,000 Guineas winner Saxon Warrior. Interesting returned at a high level and may have each-way claims at a big price.

Speculatrix is a 5yo mare by No Risk At All. She looked to be coming with a winning run before fading quite tamely in the last two furlongs at Aintree in the mares bumper. Sixth of 16 there, it was a decent run but she might come on yet for that outing. Winner on only other start in February 2023 which was over course and distance. Speculatrix, trained by Gordon Elliott (SR 14%) and ridden today by Harry Swan (SR 33%), makes a tempting play at 16-1.

Stayed on ok at Newbury last time in a Class 1 mares hurdle. I felt that was a little disappointing for Larchmont Lass who is a talented sort running for Paul Nicholls (SR 23%) and gets in on a low weight of 10-04 today. Did improve towards the finish of that race four weeks ago. Smart effort when scoring by two lengths at Wincanton prior to that. Soft ground and extra trip likely to play to the mare’s strengths. It was a good performance. Finished 2nd, placed 3rd in this race last year only beaten four lengths and runs off a mark four pounds lower here. Gemirande is a classy sort who ran second, beaten a head, in the Grade 3 Greatwood Gold Cup a year ago off a pound higher so would be well up to this on his best form.
