I’ll admit, I’m a sucker for Egyptian-themed slots, so Wings of Horus already had my attention. Sure, there are plenty of these games out there, but this one stands out with its distinctive shadowy style. Instead of the typical bright golds and turquoise, it’s dark and menacing—like a rural night sky untouched by light pollution.
The slot feels similar to Hacksaw's Hand of Anubis, another Egyptian god-themed game with a sinister twist. The eerie setting fits perfectly for Anubis, who is the god of the afterlife. Hacksaw Gaming’s ability to create sleek, gothic slots is impressive, often reminding me of Gotham City with its comic book flair. Even small details, like the big win animations featuring illustrated lotus flowers, add to its originality.
Feature-wise, when testing the game there were more orbs then you could shake a stick at which was a pleasant surprise as these replace symbols with higher-paying symbols or a Wild.
If the Scared Scripture feature triggers where it spells out ‘HORUS’ horizontally on the grid, it looks striking, but more importantly, it pays out of 500 x your bet. The Free Spins are at the heart of the features and these are all about the Orb progression bar where wins get added to the bar and you see it grow to see how many orbs will land for the last free spin.
In terms of a max win, this game comes in joint third place of all Hacksaw games at 15,000x max win. This is alongside other top games, including Rise of Ymir, 2 Wild 2 Die and Slayers Inc. The max win amount can be triggered in both the features and base game which is nifty. The RTP is decent at 96.33%, although other alternative options out there are below the 96% online average. A base game hit frequency rate of 33.79% is decent too.
With its unique design, engaging features, solid RTP, and massive max win potential, Wings of Horus earns a 4.5 out of 5 from me.
