The win frequency isn't bad and in some ways, the process by which wins come along with Rasputin Wild appearing and adding symbols is slightly entertaining. To begin with. Then it becomes a bit annoying. The game lobs along at a medium pace never realising much in the way of excitement, although I did get the three scatters on spin 30 - I selected the Ecstasy and Fire bonus of 10 spins with an increasing multiplier which produced a nice 27.6x win.

Outside of that, wins of 7.8x and 5.7x landed in the base game, which returned a session RTP of 72.5%.

There is superb potential in this game, but it feels like you are on the cusp of it all the time without anything really happening.

According to everyone’s favourite online encyclopedia, Wikipedia states that Grigori Yefimovich Rasputin was a Russian mystic and self-proclaimed holy man. That Boney M song goes into how much of a ladies man he was and Rasputin Megaways has him flexing his muscles in the loading screen like the main character that he is.

The premium symbol’s in this game all look like Russian Fabergé eggs with the four eggs ranging from the purple highest symbol to the lowest green symbol. The lower symbols in this game are the classic A, K, Q, J, 10 and 9 and all of these symbols look exactly like you see on any other Big Time Gaming slot.

Graphics, Music, and Sound Effects

Graphically, Rasputin Megaways is absolutely stunning with its bright imagery and clean graphics really showing clearly as soon as you enter the game. The bright background shows a building similar to Saint Basil’s Cathedral in the Red Square of Moscow, with the building lit up in disco colours. The building even starts bouncing if you enter the bonus along with the soundtrack!

The symbols in this game are done perfectly with the different Russian Fabergé eggs the way that you hit big with premiums. The detail that Big Time Gaming’s graphic team have gone into on these symbols is brilliant too.

We don’t have to go into too much detail again about Boney M’s Rasputin which is of course the soundtrack to this game and plays a massive part in it. The song itself plays continuously throughout you playing the game with either the instrumental or the actual song playing.

Rasputin Megaways really leans into the disco theme with the slot acting like one big party with Boney M’s classic style playing throughout. Big Time Gaming have made sure that the theme is consistent throughout too with the game playing the same in the base game and both the bonus rounds.

Flashing lights, spotlights and full on disco balls feature in the reels and background with a real part vibe given. Historical accuracy may not be 100% around Rasputin’s life with the game all based around how Boney M sum up the famous figure in their song.

Play Experience & First Impressions

My experience of Rasputin Megaways is similar to previous Big Time Gaming slots before with this one using a lot of previous features that we’ve seen in the past. Graphically the game does appeal to you when you enter it with the bright imagery and cool soundtrack really helping make the game what it is. Big Time Gaming have done similar in the past though with the slot similar to Danger High Voltage in the way the bonus rounds tie in with the song that the game gets its name from.

The bonus rounds in this one also feel similar to what we’ve seen previously with the Big & Strong bonus feeling extremely like classic Big Time Gaming’s White Rabbit bonus that has the similar theme where you stack the reels to eventually hit the full amount of symbols on the slot.

The 68,180x max win that this game offers seems absolutely massive and it’s something that definitely entices you while playing. You can tell this game can hit massively with the way it plays and of course we’ve seen massive wins on Megaways slot games before.

I don’t want to go on about Boney M yet again because I feel like the whole review goes on and on about their famous song, but without it it’s fair to say that this game could be bland and just another generic Big Time Gaming slot that they have previously released. The Rasputin theme makes this one so much better along with the disco themes that you see on the reels.

The main feeling for Rasputin Megaways is that it uses a lot of the classic Big Time Gaming features that we’ve seen in the past, but similar to a Boney M song it throws in a disco remix to really make it feel like a fresh game.
