100 Spins Test

This 100 Spins will be updated by Steve Madgwick

100 spins is not a Real Test

We give every slot a 100 spin test to see just what it can do, or not as the case can often be - 100 spins is no reflection of the likelihood of any other 100-spin session, as RTP's are set over many millions and probably billions of spins. So this 100 spin test is just for entertainment and insight purposes

Intro

The first Big Bass game was released way back in 2020 and we’re now on game number 16. Who knew that the Fisherman - who fronts the game - would end up dressed as a king, complete with a shield, crown, and a... um... fishing rod? There's also an ancient heavy sword stuck in the bottom of a lake in this game - does it ring a bell?

In addition to the Golden Lakes Free Spins round mentioned in the summary, look out for the Money symbol which is hallmark of a Big Bass game. This special symbol takes a random value on each spin, which is won during the Free Spins round. The multipliers range between 2x and 5,000x your bet.

Right, let’s dive into this detailed review of the Big Bass Secrets of the Golden Lake slot game, stay with me.

Graphics, Music, and Sound Effects

As is customary with the Big Bass games, the grid is played against a calming water backdrop. The usual suspects, including the Fisherman and fishing-related bits and bobs, appear on the reels.

The soothing Medieval music paints a backdrop to the scene, and the lute stands out as the main instrument. There are standard sound effects including the peal of winning bells, clanking reels, and underwater bubbles.

When we write our OLBG slot reviews, we follow the summary, intro, graphics, music, and sound effects with the key game features. This information will help you decide if Big Bass Secrets of the Golden Lake sounds like a good fit for you or not.

We share many slot games reviews on OLBG and these include up-to-date info about essential features such as theme, paylines, reels, bet range, and bonuses. Don't go anywhere if you want to find out about our play experience, first impressions and our expert verdict of the Big Bass Secrets of the Golden Lake slot game.

Theme - Fishing

There should be an asterisk above to say that the theme is fishing AND Arthurian legend. This is an exciting combo if you're interested in both genres. Otherwise, it’s a bit of an odd combo. The lake has a golden glow which stretches from above the water line right down down below the lake. The blend of the lute sounds, and the calming colours of the water in various shades of green has created a relaxing slot experience. Below the water, where you play on the reels, you'll discover small fish, swaying weeds and bubbles fizzing away.

On the grid, the colour ramps up a notch and the symbols are in vivid shades of yellow, green, orange and purple. In order of value, the symbols are a fishing float, a dragonfly, a fishing rod, a bait box and a group of fish. The standard symbols of A, K, Q, J and 10 then follow.

When switching between the base game and bonus rounds, game messaging is written on a piece of parchment to tie in with the historic theme.

Reels

The Big Bass Secrets of the Golden Lake slot game has 5 reels and 3 rows to play on.

Paylines

Landing winning combos is possible on 10 paylines for the Big Bass Secrets of the Golden Lake slot.

RTP

Return to Player, or RTP, as you've probably seen written on slot sites, is a way of forecasting what percentage of players' stakes will be returned to them over the long run. It's always represented by a percentage that is usually somewhere around 96%. The Big Bass Secrets of the Golden Lake RTP is ever so slightly above average at 96.07%.

There are different RTP rates available, so you’ll need to check on operator sites to find out which RTP rate they're offering. To save you time, we’ve found a few different rates at some of the current popular UK online casinos and added these sites to the table below.

Stake Range

There’s a wide bet range for the Big Bass Secrets of the Golden Lake slot game which starts at £0.10 and goes up to £250.

Max Win

The Big Bass Secrets of the Golden Lake max win amount is 5,000x your stake

Wild Shape

The Fisherman Wild symbol substitutes for all symbols expect for the Scatter and Money symbols.

Free Spins

To enter the Free Spins bonus round, you need to land 3, 4, or 5 Scatter symbols. The number of Scatters you land determines the number of free spins you’ll receive: 10, 15, or 20, respectively. If you only land 2 Scatters, there’s a chance to win a third Scatter using a random feature:

  • Firstly, randomly, the Scatters on the screen can move down one position without leaving the reel area. A respins round is then triggered where the reels with Scatters move one position down and the reels without a Scatter respin.

  • Secondly - again randomly -  one more Scatter can appear on the screen in a random position after the initial spin.

Before the round starts, you pick a card from 12 possible cards on the screen to reveal the type of Free Spins round you’ll play which you can see in the image below. If a bonus card is revealed, a regular Free Spins round is triggered. If a ‘Secrets of the Golden Lake’ card is revealed, the Golden Lake Free Spins feature is triggered.

During the regular Free Spins feature each Fisherman Wild also collects all of the values from the Money symbols on the screen. All the Fisherman Wild symbols that land during the feature are collected at the end of the round and you can see your progress at the top of the screen on the vertical bar. Every 4th Fisherman Wild collected retriggers the feature, awards 10 more free spins and the multiplier for the Money symbol collection increases to 2x the second level, 3x for the third level and 10x for the fourth level.

During the Golden Lakes Free Spins round, the above information remains the same, but importantly, the normal reels are replaced with special reels containing only Money symbols, Fisherman Wild symbols, and blanks.

Play Experience & First Impressions

Like all Big Bass games, the Money Symbol is a key element during play. If you've played Big Bass games in the past, you'll recognise the symbol showing a group of fish. During every spin, the Money symbol takes a random value, which can be won during the Free Spins feature. The values range between 2x and 5,000x your bet.

The Golden Lakes Free Spins round which you can see above is something a bit different, having the reels containing just Money symbols, Fisherman Wild symbols and blanks was a nice touch. However all of the usual Big Bass functionalities feature in this game. Such as having the opportunity to land a 3rd Scatter  - which is a feature I appreciate. This title also has the Free Spins bonus round with an increased multiplier for each level gained. Including the recognisable progress bar at the top of the screen. In all honesty there were not many original features for this latest title.

Expert Verdict

I'd started to think that the end was in sight after the March 2024 release of Big Bass Day At The Races as where do you go once you've removed the Fisherman from the water? But alas, it seems the possibilities are endless. Especially when you can team up with other popular genres. Maybe next time, our friendly Fisherman will be travelling to Asia or heading back in time to Ancient Egypt. I sincerely hope not, but you never know.

The RTP and max win are on the lower side of Pragmatic Play titles, which is disappointing, you can see a full list of games in this OLBG article about the best Pragmatic Play slot games. This studio now has an impressive 121 games released, with more around the corner.

The Golden Lakes Free Spins round was something a little different. However, with a low RTP and max win, I’m not sure this is enough to make the slot stand out. I can't say I'm a fan of fishing-themed games, but this series is HUGELY popular, so this will be a hit for many players. Fans of the series will be over the moon to know that a new game is available to play.
