JUNO Awards Betting Odds
The JUNO Awards are a lot like the Grammys, except they cater strictly to Canadians. It’s nice to know that there’s a music award show that dedicates itself to local talent and opens our eyes to new artists from all over the country and better still if you want to bet on who may win some awards, betting sites offer odds on various categories.
Artists like Justin Bieber and The Weeknd are bound to make an appearance, but there are also plenty of new and upcoming acts that are looking to make a name for themselves. Regardless of what you’re most excited about, betting on the JUNO Awards is a surefire way to spice things up even further.
We’re going to take a look at some of the most popular JUNO Awards betting odds, as well as a few names that you’ll likely hear about this year. If you’ve ever wanted to know how to place a bet while celebrating the best musical talent from Vancouver to Halifax, you’re in the right place.

What is Betting on the JUNO Awards
Betting on the JUNO Awards is the same as betting on a sport but instead of betting on who’s going to win a game, you’re trying to guess who’s going to take home one of the show’s illustrious awards from the categories that are assigned betting odds.
JUNO Awards Betting Markets
The JUNO Awards have many different betting markets available and they usually correlate to the awards handed out. It always helps to know what you’re betting on before signing up for a Canadian sportsbook to place a bet on the JUNO awards.
It should be noted that nominations do not always result in wins, as can be seen by Justin Bieber almost always being nominated for a JUNO as he’s Canada’s sweetheart and represents our country's music industry on a global scale. That said, from 32 nominations he has won only 8 awards when compared to the 17 total wins for The Weeknd from 35 Nominations
Alanis Morissette
Converting her 26 nominations into 15 awards sets Alanis Morrissette out as the artiste who has the greatest wins-to-nominations ratio (57.69%) at the Juno awards from artists with 10 or more wins.
Album of the Year
Album of the Year is a category that crowns the most popular Canadian release. In recent history, big names like Justin Bieber and The Weeknd have been a threat every single year to take home this award, and it’s often reserved for artists that you’ll hear on the radio daily.
Single of the Year
Don’t want to focus on albums that have been completely released? Musicians release singles as a way to promote their upcoming projects all of the time, and that means you can bet on Single of the Year without the need for an official album release. For example, Justin Bieber put out “Peaches” well before releasing the entirety of his “Justice” album – it was a smash single that everybody ended up singing in their cars at one point or another.
If there’s another song like that stuck in your head this year, but the artist hasn’t released an album yet, you might want to see if any sportsbooks are offering betting lines for them!
Tragically Hip
With 17 wins from 46 nominations, Tragically Hip are the winningmost band in the JUNOs
Artist of the Year
Choosing one artist to claim the Artist of the Year title is tough, but it’s well worth it if you can pick properly. Shawn Mendes, Justin Bieber, The Weeknd, and even JP Saxe are all big-name Canadian artists that have made a case for this award at least once, but only one person can take it home each year.
Some artists will have a tougher time due to a lack of popularity, and while betting on the underdog may be tempting, it all comes down to how the judges feel about each musician.
Artist of the Year Gender
Keep things simple and bet on what gender the Artist of the Year is! Not every sportsbook will offer this betting market, but the ones that do will offer lines according to gender ratio amongst the finalists. Not only that, but if one artist is a particular favourite to win the award, you can expect to see the betting lines for their gender to drop quite a bit.
This is a betting market that anyone can understand. Even if you have never made a wager in the past, this is a bet that you can place and fully understand what is going on.
How to Bet on the JUNO Awards
Unfortunately, finding lines for entertainment betting markets can be a little search. However, because the JUNOs play such a large role in Canadian pop culture, finding lines on Canadian-focused sportsbooks should be possible no matter your location.
Things to Consider When Betting on the JUNO Awards
Whether you’re a self-proclaimed expert or a willing beginner, we’re going to look at a few things to consider before you even think about placing a bet.
Past Winners
Past winners who are up for contention again are always going to be a threat to take home one or two awards if they have remained active with new released in the past 12 months. Artists like Justin Bieber are nominated almost every year and will usually take home at least one award.
Bookmakers will adjust their betting lines accordingly, which is why it’s always a good idea to get your wagers in as early as possible.
Betting Odds
Once you’ve shopped around for the best betting odds possible, look at them and see if betting on your pick is truly worth it. Bookmakers have access to information that might not be widely available and experts putting together betting lines – if they offer an artist at -500, it’s because they really think they’re going to win or there has been significant support and the majority of bets placed on this selection.
Of course, bookmakers aren’t always right, and it’s merely a matter of finding the least juiced betting odds possible.
Popularity
If you feel like there’s a song or artist up for nomination that you hear in every retail store you visit, odds are that’s a good sign. Popularity can go a long way when it comes to winning a JUNO award, as the most successful artists have shown that they resonate with many listeners. It’s up to judges at the end of the day, but being popular certainly helps.
