How competitive is the Yorkshire Cup market? When looking at the over-rounds for the last 20 renewals, the most competitive market was in 2022 when the race had an over-round of 107%. The race in 2019 was a race that was most in the bookie's favour with an over-round of 121%, whilst on average over the last 20 renewals of the Yorkshire Cup, the over-round has been 113%, which means the bookie expects to pay out £100 for every £113 which is bet.

Below you will find the 2026 Yorkshire Cup Trends. See which patterns have occurred over the recent renewals that you may be able to use for the next renewal. We also have a section that looks at the Yorkshire Cup Trend Analysis.

These are the top three quickest-run Yorkshire Cup races over the last 20 renewals:

  1. Stradivarius (2:55.15) in 2018
  2. Giavellotto (2:55.96) in 2024
  3. Giavellotto (2:56.79) in 2023

Looking at the future form, is the winner worth following next time out? Over the past 20 renewals, if you had followed the winner of the Yorkshire Cup next time out, then you would have backed a total of 6 winners. Backing all 19 runners who have been out since their win at SP next time out would have returned an LSP of +11.08. Remember to use the racing predictions along with the information on this page to find a bet on the 2026 Yorkshire Cup.

Over the last 20 renewals, it was Stradivarius, trained by John Gosden and ridden by Frankie Dettori, who set the fastest winning time in the Yorkshire Cup. That runner won the race in a time of 2:55.15 in 2018. At the other end of the scale, it was the combination of trainer Howard Johnson and jockey Darryll Holland with Percussionist who set the slowest winning time; the race-winning time was 3:12.41 in the 2006 renewal.

What the expert says...
Six of the last seven winners of the Yorkshire Cup have come from either the British Champions Long Distance Cup (x3) or the Dubai Gold Cup (x3). Rebels Romance (Dubai Sheema Classic) win in 2025 meant the last three winners all ran at Meydan before winning this.
